Read posts you like later

This is a bit experimental, but if you want to save a post to look at later, click the Save button next to the headline of the post on a desktop or laptop computer. Then, when you want to view all the posts that you've saved, click on My Posts at the top of the page. Your choices are saved on YOUR computer, not anywhere online, so you won't see them if you use a different computer, and if you clear your computer's cache they will be deleted. I'm still fiddling with it, so it may be a bit glitchy for a few days.

Clair's puppies have been adopted, now its her turn to find a forever home

Clair is a 4-year-old gray pittie with the softest eyes and the biggest heart. She was rescued as a stray momma with her puppies – and now that all her babies have been adopted, it’s finally her turn to find a loving, forever home.

Clair can be a little timid at first, especially in new places, but don’t let that fool you! Once she feels safe, her sweet personality shines. The moment she settled into her foster home, she turned into a snuggly, affectionate lovebug who just wanted to be close to her humans.

She’s house-trained, polite inside the home, and gets along wonderfully with other dogs (according to her foster parent, she was especially smitten with her foster companion Odie, an 80-pound pittie mix). Clair enjoys short play sessions followed by long cuddle breaks, and she has “sit” and “down” mastered like a champ.

If you’ve fallen in love with Clair, she is available for a 10-day-adoption trial, foster, or adoption. Come by and meet this sweet girl today!

The adoption fee for dogs is $150. All dog adoptions include spay or neuter, microchip, and age-appropriate vaccines.

Walk-in adoptions are available every day from 10:00 – 5:00. View photos of adoptable pets at pasadenahumane.org.

New adopters will receive a complimentary health-and-wellness exam from VCA Animal Hospitals, as well as a goody bag filled with information about how to care for your pet.

Pets may not be available for adoption and cannot be held for potential adopters by phone calls or email.

School Board discusses a short-term fix for high school pool, with a new pool as long-term plan

At its Sept. 24 meeting the Monrovia School Board discussed making a temporary fix to the Monrovia High swimming pool, which could cost up to $200,000. This is now possible, according to Board President Hammond, by an easing of county restrictions. The long term plan, however, is for a CIF-compliant new pool, and the district plans to work with the city on that.

Karen DeClue, a local aquatics advocate, said in her newsletter that City Manager Dylan Feik told her that the city is willing to help pay for the temporary fix. In return, she said, the city wants the schools making an effort to open their campuses to the public again as parks during the weekends.

Note: The board did not vote to make a temporary fix to the pool, but did discuss the matter. Also, DeClue clarified that the information about the city wanting school campuses open during non-school hours did not come from Feik. I have edited the post to fix these issues.
