About MonroviaNow

I started MonroviaNow in 2010 as an experiment in publishing local news online. I had had some experience as a part-time reporter on both daily and weekly newspapers (Star-News, LA Times, Daily News, Altadenan, Arcadia Tribune) but with the rise of the Internet it was clear that they were in trouble and I became concerned about what would take their place in providing local news, particularly in my home town of Monrovia.

So I began MonroviaNow with the fond but mistaken hope that it wouldn't be too much work but that Monrovia leaders would provide information about their areas of expertise. It didn't work; I think I got two such submissions, so to fill in the gaps (It was pretty much all gap) I started providing news summaries, and ... here we are today.

If you want to submit news or need to contact me for some other reason, send me an email at brad.haugaard@gmail.com. If you send a press release you don't need to put it in a Word document (I'd prefer you didn't), but just include it in the body of the email. And if you have a nice picture or two, feel free to attach them.
