Bear that scratched woman may have been caught

The bear that scratched a woman has - maybe - been caught, along with her two cubs, by the California Department of Fish and Wildlife. The captured bear will be tested to see if it is actually the same one. If so, it is possible it could be euthanized. Details.

Woman injured in encounter with bear

CBS News reports that a woman was injured this morning in an encounter with a bear in north Monrovia, in the Ridgeside/Oakdale area according to social media reports. The woman was walking her dog and the bear charged and swiped at her, hitting the back of her knee. A neighbor scared the bear away with an air horn. Details.

Old Homes Tour to remember old Route 66

As part of the celebration of Route 66, the Old Homes Tour on May 3 will feature structures along Route 66 as it wended its way through Monrovia. Tickets for the tour, put on by the Monrovia Historic Preservation Group, will go on sale April 1. Details.

The City of Monrovia's Care Solace program, which connects residents with mental health care, has launched a new data dashboard showing real-time service usage.
