Vandalism / Drug Offense – Suspect Arrested
July 24 at 8:14 a.m., an officer patrolling the 600 block of S. Mountain saw a subject vandalizing a wall. The officer made contact with the subject and an investigation revealed he was in possession of a controlled substance. He was arrested and taken into custody.
Theft
July 24 at 9:25 p.m., a bicycle was reported stolen in the 900 block of W. Foothill. This investigation is continuing.
Weapon Offense – Suspect Arrested
July 24 at 10:15 p.m., while patrolling the area of Myrtle and Wyland an officer saw a vehicle in violation of a code. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver was contacted. A computer search revealed the driver had a warrant for his arrest. The driver was found to be in possession of brass knuckles. He was arrested and taken into custody.
Public Intoxication – Suspect Arrested
July 25 at 12:34 a.m., officers responded to the 1800 block of S. Mayflower after a resident reported an intoxicated neighbor. Officers arrived and made contact with the subject on the sidewalk. It was determined he was too intoxicated to care for himself. He was arrested and transported to the MPD jail to be held for a sobering period.

July 25 at 4:13 a.m., a bicycle was reported from the 1500 block of S. Myrtle. This investigation is continuing.
Injury Traffic Collision
July 25 at 11:28 a.m., officers were dispatched to the area of Mountain and Royal Oaks regarding a traffic collision. Injuries were reported. This investigation is continuing.
Public Intoxication
July 25 at 1:24 p.m., while patrolling the 400 block of W. Foothill an officer saw a subject who appeared to be intoxicated and made contact with him. It was determined the subject was too intoxicated to care for himself. He was arrested and transported to the MPD jail to be held for a sobering period.

July 25 at 9:24 p.m., officers were dispatched to the area of Royal Oaks and Bradbury regarding a female subject in the roadway. Officers arrived and made contact with the female subject. A computer search revealed she had a warrant for her arrest. She was arrested and taken into custody.
Hit and Run Traffic Collision
July 25 at 11:43 p.m., a disturbance was reported in the 100 block of E. Lime. Officers arrived and determined a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle and the vehicle fled. The victim sustained injuries, but refused medical attention. This investigation is continuing.
Commercial Burglary
July 27 at 12:50 p.m., an employee from a business in the 200 block of Kruse reported that the business was broken into overnight. This investigation is continuing.
Mental Evaluation
July 27 at 3:58 p.m., a resident in the 500 block of Diamond reported that a neighbor was making threats to harm people. Officers arrived and made contact with the subject. An investigation revealed he was a danger to himself and others. He was transported to a medical facility for a mental evaluation.

July 27 at 6:17 p.m., a traffic collision was reported in the area of Duarte and Mayflower. Officers arrived and made contact with the parties involved. One of the parties complained of pain, but refused medical attention.

A traffic stop was conducted, and the driver was contacted. The driver displayed symptoms of intoxication. A DUI investigation revealed the driver was under the influence. He was arrested and transported to the MPD jail to be held for a sobering period.
Non-Injury Traffic Collision
July 29 at 12:08 a.m., a traffic collision was reported in the area of Mayflower and Evergreen. Officers arrived and determined that one driver fell asleep and collided with property. No injuries were reported.

July 29 at 8:13 a.m., a disturbing subject was reported in the area of Chestnut and Myrtle. An officer arrived and made contact with the subject. A computer search revealed the subject had a warrant for his arrest. He was arrested and taken into custody.
Domestic Battery – Suspect Arrested
July 29 at 8:40 a.m., a victim walked into the MPD lobby to report a domestic violence incident. An investigation revealed the victim and her boyfriend were involved in a verbal altercation that turned physical. Her boyfriend was arrested and taken into custody.
Fraud
July 29 at 1:04 p.m., a resident in the 1100 block of Sesmas called to report that he was a victim of a scam. An investigation revealed the victim was persuaded into handing cash over to a subject who claimed the resident was refunded more than he should have been. This investigation is continuing.

The Monrovia Steam Laundry around 1905, at 316 S. Myrtle Ave., about where Paris Baguette is today. In 1907 it moved to 727-729 S Myrtle (northwest corner of Myrtle and Walnut). First Presbyterian Church may change its name
First Presbyterian Church of Monrovia, at the corner of Foothill and Myrtle, may change its name.
This Sunday speaker Mark Roberts, who said he is "a part of this church family" though not the main pastor, said that the church is changing to focus on younger generations, which includes changing the church's name, upgrading its facilities, and committing in a new way to reaching children, youth, and young families, while still including "the rest of us." He did not say what the new name may be. Video here.

July 18 at 2:09 a.m., an employee at a restaurant located in the 100 block of W. Huntington reported an intoxicated driver. The driver was gone prior to officers’ arrival. The driver was located and a traffic stop was attempted, but the vehicle failed to yield. A pursuit ensued, when the pursuit came to an end the driver was determined to be intoxicated. The driver was arrested and transported to the MPD jail to be held for a sobering period.

July 18 at 4:36 a.m., a robbery was reported in the 400 block of W. Foothill. Officers arrived and discovered two male subjects entered a store, grabbed property, forced their way out of the store, causing the employee an injury. This investigation is continuing.

July 18 at 8:40 p.m., a victim in the 1000 block of Royal Oaks reported a domestic disturbance. Officers arrived and made contact with the parties involved. An investigation revealed the victim’s boyfriend broke her windshield during an argument, held a knife to her and threatened to kill her. He was located a short distance away after fleeing on foot. While handcuffed, the suspect elbowed an officer in the face during a search. He was arrested and taken into custody for the known charge and the investigation is continuing.

July 19 at 12:08 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 500 block of N. Alta Vista regarding a disoriented female subject at the resident’s front door. Shortly after, several callers reported the female subject was entering garages. Officers arrived and discovered the female subject entered an unlocked vehicle with keys in the ignition and drove the vehicle into the residence, she exited the vehicle and fled on foot. She was located a short distance away. She was arrested and taken into custody.

July 19 at 12:43 a.m., a caller in the 100 block of W. Huntington reported a subject in the drive-thru of a fast food restaurant in the 100 block of W. Huntington appeared intoxicated. Officers arrived and made contact with the subject who appeared to be intoxicated. A DUI investigation confirmed that he was under the influence. He was arrested and transported to the MPD jail to be held for a sobering period.

July 19 at 7:31 a.m., an officer in the 1200 block of S. Magnolia conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for a traffic violation. The driver had a bench warrant for her arrest. The issuing agency did not want to pick up the female, so the officer issued her a citation in the field for the warrant.

July 19 at 4:18 p.m., a caller reported a disturbed subject in front of the 400 block of S. Myrtle location. Officers arrived and detained the male, who was extremely intoxicated. He didn't know where he was nor where he lived. He was placed under arrest for public intoxication and held for a sobering period.

July 19 at 7:28 p.m., a robbery was reported at a store in the 1600 block of S. Mountain. An investigation revealed the subject produced a bat when loss prevention confronted him. Officers located the subject a short distance away. He was arrested and taken into custody.

July 20 at 1:57 a.m., an alarm company for a business in the 1400 block of S. Mountain reported a subject on the property after hours. Officers arrived and located the subject. He was located unresponsive and in possession of a loaded firearm. Narcan was administered. He was transported to a hospital for treatment. This investigation is continuing to determine if charges are applicable.

July 20 at 11:33 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 1400 block of S. Magnolia regarding an altercation between a mother and daughter. Upon arrival, officers discovered the daughter was a danger to others. She was transported to a medical facility for a mental evaluation.
Domestic Violence
July 20 at 12:24 p.m., a caller in the 800 block of W. Walnut reported a male subject was hurting her. Officers arrived and located a male and female subject who were in a relationship. An investigation revealed the male subject was intoxicated and struck the female subject and her dog, causing both injuries. He was arrested and taken into custody.

July 21 at 11:46 a.m., a resident in the 200 block of W. Colorado reported a package stolen from her front porch. This investigation is continuing.

July 23 at 8:13 a.m., a victim in the 300 block of W. Foothill reported that her boyfriend shoved her and she was injured. Officers arrived and made contact with both parties. An investigation revealed the victim and the boyfriend were involved in a verbal altercation when the boyfriend became physical. She suffered multiple injuries. He was arrested and taken into custody.

Arcadia hospital wins awards for stroke and diabetes care
USC Arcadia Hospital received multiple 2025 American Heart Association "Get With The Guidelines" awards for excellence in stroke care and treatment of patients with Type 2 diabetes. Specifically:
- Stroke Gold Plus Award – for adherence to stroke treatment guidelines.
- Target: Stroke Honor Roll Elite Plus – for reducing time to thrombolytic therapy.
- Target: Stroke Honor Roll Advanced Therapy – for timely clot-removal intervention.

Opinion: Addressing traffic caused by new apartments

I am going to assume that like it or not the 204-unit apartment planned for the southwest corner of Myrtle and Olive will be built, since Sacramento has limited the power of local jurisdictions to prevent it. But one concern I think the city might be able to partly address is traffic.
I think it would be a good idea if the city would ask the developer to provide a shuttle service to the train station Monday through Friday, intensively during rush hours and occasionally in between. Perhaps the nearby Paragon and Avalon apartments could help cover the cost. Not a complete solution by any means, but maybe it would keep a few extra cars off the road.
