Lunch at BigShrimps, on Colorado just east of Myrtle. Got a Cajun Salmon Buritto lunch special with fries and a drink for $7.50 plus a cup of lobster bisque for $3.45. That plus tax. Very good! A generous helping of salmon with rice and a sprinkle of cabbage gave it a nice crunch. Bisque great, too.

Goodbye Gas Meter Readers? | New Monrovia Food-Truck Ordinance
At its October 16 meeting (agenda: http://goo.gl/HXA0G ), the Monrovia City Council will ...
~ Hear a report that Southern California Gas Company plans to install five poles with "wireless data collectors powered by a solar panel system. The data collectors will strictly receive information from the gas meters in the receiving area and will then transmit this information to a billing center. The data collectors do not transmit to the gas meters." Goodbye meter readers, I guess. http://goo.gl/Z4FXz
~ Consider a revised food-truck ordinance. The staff report says, "The main changes associated with the adoption of this ordinance involve the elimination of the prior ban on mobile food vending in Old Town Monrovia and certain other locations, and the elimination of various parking time limits that had been in place under the existing ordinance." You can see the ordinance here: http://goo.gl/osIjT

Donate Legos, Duplos, to the Monrovia Library
If you have any Legos or Duplos you don't need, the Monrovia Library could use them for the Library Youth Services Division's "Lego My Library" program, which will give children and adults the opportunity to work together building stuff. "Building with Legos promotes logical mathematical thinking, scientific reasoning and problem solving, as well as early literacy development by increasing attention span, memory, creativity, and vocabulary skills." Drop any donations at the library by Saturday, October 17. Contact Elizabeth Schneider at 256-8275 if you have questions. http://goo.gl/hbr3g

Gold Line Sketch; Gold Line Board Supports New Tax
~ Gold Line Spokesman Habib Balian reports that Artist Andrew Leicester, the design concept advisor for the 210 Bridge project, was asked to exhibit his sketch book for our project at the "Pages" Exhibition opening tomorrow night at the Pasadena Art Center College of Design. This is the latest sketch that Andrew created for the bridge just a few weeks ago. Details: http://goo.gl/Oy3Hv
~ Also, Balian said the Authority board has taken a position of support on Measure J, which would extend the county's half-cent sales tax for transportation improvements for 30 more years. He writes: "Even though the measure does not include funding to complete the Foothill Extension to Claremont, the board decided to support the measure because of the regional benefits it would provide by accelerating completion of many other transit projects."
Opinion: So, San Gabriel Valley residents are supposed to vote to continue taxing themselves for umpteen years to complete projects elsewhere in LA County but not to complete the Gold Line? And that after being promised that the Gold Line would go out to Claremont? And then being told, essentially, tough luck? I'm unimpressed, to say the least.

Job (The Bible One) on Myrtle
From the Things I Never Noticed Before Department, this cornerstone-like plaque on the south side of the Pinkberry building on Myrtle. It is Job 28:28, from the Bible:
And he said to man, The fear of the Lord - that is wisdom, and to shun evil is understanding.
Anybody know any other cool, hidden things around town?
