Pet adoption fees are being waved by Pasadena Humane during August 16
Pasadena Humane, which serves Monrovia, is participating in NBC4 and Telemundo 52’s “Clear the Shelters” pet adoption campaign, running August 1–31. A special adoption event will be held Saturday, August 16, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., with all adoption fees waived for dogs, cats, and other critters. Sponsored by The Leonard & Robert Weintraub Family Foundation.
All adoptions include spay/neuter, vaccines, microchip, wellness exam, and care information. Preview animals at pasadenahumane.org/adopt. Regular adoption procedures apply. Licensing fees may be required depending on city of residence. A license is required for dogs over four months in most partner cities and for cats in Bradbury.
Pasadena Humane also benefits from the Clear The Shelters Fund. Donations accepted at ClearTheSheltersFund.org through August.

Pasadena Humane is participating in NBCUniversal’s Clear the Shelters campaign; on Saturday, August 16 from 10am to 2pm, adoption fees will be waived for all available dogs, cats, and critters.
The adoption fee for dogs is $150. All dog adoptions include spay or neuter, microchip, and age-appropriate vaccines.
Walk-in adoptions are available every day from 10:00 – 5:00. View photos of adoptable pets at pasadenahumane.org.
New adopters will receive a complimentary health-and-wellness exam from VCA Animal Hospitals, as well as a goody bag filled with information about how to care for your pet. Pets may not be available for adoption and cannot be held for potential adopters by phone calls or email.

Diseased oak removed from MHS grounds
An iconic oak tree in front of Monrovia High School has been removed due to irreversible damage from fungus and oak borer beetles. The school district reports that arborists determined the tree could not be saved and removal was necessary to protect nearby trees and ensure public safety. Salvaged wood will be used for plaques and benches and a new tree will be planted in its place.

Supervisors renew $75,000 reward for information on killer of 4-year-old Monrovia boy
The LA County Board of Supervisors has renewed the reward of $75,000 for information leading to the arrest of the person who shot and killed 4-year-old Monrovia boy, Salvador Esparza in 2016 in Altadena.
