City gets first dibs on properties that have defaulted on taxes

The four Monrovia properties the city discussed in closed session (see report here) have defaulted on their taxes and thus are up for sale by the county. City Council member Sergio Jimenez said state law requires the properties be offered first to local governments, so since they are in Monrovia, the city gets first dibs. He added that Monrovia is not necessarily going to buy all, or any, of the properties.
