Coffee at New Pari Passu
Got a cup of coffee today at the new Pari Passu coffee shop at the northwest corner of Myrtle and Foothill. Nice interior. Kind of a minimalist industrial vibe with ceiling fans and art on the walls, and the coffee was good. In addition to various coffee-based drinks, it also serves pastries, flat bread pizzas, quiches and a croque sandwich. (I looked it up; it’s a fried or baked ham and cheese sandwich.) I hope parking won’t be a problem.

Lunch at Thai Divine
Lunch at Thai Divine Bistro, which appears to be the new name for Chang Thai Bistro, on the east side of Myrtle just north of Olive, but it seems pretty much the same except the new name. Got the Chicken Satay lunch for $8.95 and an iced tea for $3.50. Came with a green salad, and was all very nice.

Dinner at Los Gueros
Dinner at Los Gueros, on the north side of Huntington just west of Magnolia. Got the Special Burrito with carnitas for $11.95 and an iced tea for $2.75. Very good and if “burrito” means little donkey I think I got a full burro, because it was Big! Also, if you come here get the made-at-your-table guacamole; I was scraping the last bits from the bowl with my finger. It’s that good.

Readers Choice: The Best Burger in Monrovia
The readers have spoken. The best burger in Monrovia is at 38 Degrees, with 15.3% of the vote. Followed as close seconds by Jake's Roadhouse and Jim's Burger, with 13.6% of the vote, each. I agree with the result, but wonder how it might have turned out if we had asked what is the best burger for under $8. But, yeah, the 38 Degrees burger is pretty amazing!
Dinner at Rubio’s Coastal Grill
Dinner at Rubio’s Coastal Grill, in the Huntington Oaks shopping center. More of a lunch spot but works for dinner, too. Got the Gourmet Taco Plate with chicken for $8.49 and an iced tea for $2.29. Tasty.

Lunch at Something Healthy
Lunch at Something Healthy, on the east side of Shamrock just nort of Huntington. Got the Farmer Sandwich (turkey, avocado, hummus, etc.) for $9.25, an iced tea for $1.50, and a cup of coconut curry soup for $2.25. Ya know, I think they accidentally left the turkey out of my sandwich, but a) I was in a big rush and b) it was sooo very good even without the turkey, that I happily ate it and ran out the door. Soup was also extremely good!

Lunch at Chicken King
Got lunch to go at Chicken King Express yesterday, in the little shopping area at Foothill and Mayflower. I had the Chicken Tarator with hummus and pickles (or you can get rice instead of pickles) for $9.95. I’d never had it before. It’s a cold dish and very good - and a lot of it. I’d look at the menu online and call it in to save some time. Here’s the website (https://goo.gl/6VW3mC) and here’s the phone: 305-3111.
