We’ll never be able to trust photos again! My brother Erik took this photograph of a Pacific Electric car in Monrovia and animated it using Grok Imagine. He said the whole process took about 30 seconds, sound included. The image is from March 1, 1903, and marks the beginning of service by the Pacific Electric Railway to Monrovia. Details.

Never be able to trust a photo again? It's exactly because this kind of garbage gets shared.
ReplyDeleteDo you not see that this image just makes up random text and a person?
This is not history, it is AI slop, and while it might be "cool" technically it has absolutely no place in any historical context whatsoever.
This is your blog Brad, so you can of course post whatever you want, but I won't be continuing to follow if this is the type of stuff that'll be posted.
Sean, I’m sorry you don’t like it. I thought it was an interesting oddity and might be of interest to other Monrovians as well, but, I have no plans to posting such AI videos regularly.
