Support Families in Need by Donating at Our Monrovia or Pasadena Locations
Foothill Unity Center is urgently calling on the community to help support families and individuals in need, including those affected by the recent Eaton Canyon Fire. Donations of essential items can be dropped off at our Monrovia or Pasadena locations to provide relief to those experiencing hardship.
The devastating fire has left 6,858 families displaced and in need of immediate assistance. Coupled with the rising demand for support services, the community’s generosity is more critical than ever. Items urgently needed include new backpacks, new pillows, new blankets, menstrual products, pet food, baby diapers, adult diapers, new clothing, new shoes, and gift cards.

~ Purchasing the house at 222 E. Cypress Avenue for $1.53 million. The two-story property, in poor condition, is on a 32,514 square foot lot and was built in 1892. The city is concerned that another buyer might "consider development opportunities inconsistent with goals established by the City." The staff report says, "Future uses of the property have not been determined." Details.

~ Tonight's Street Fair will feature six vendors from Altadena alongside regular vendors. There will also be a donation drive for fire victims. Items accepted are gift cards, new bedding, clothing, non-perishable food, bottled water, Gatorade, and Liquid IV (electrolyte drink mix).
~ The State of the City event will be Tuesday, Feb. 11, at LOOK Cinemas. Topics include the Eaton Fire, community support, a recap of 2024, and plans for 2025.
~ Most city offices will be closed Monday, Jan. 20, for Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
~ There will be lane closures on East Huntington Jan. 21 to Feb. 21 between California and Shamrock. Closures will affect one lane per direction from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for the completion of the pedestrian bridge public art project.
~ A Community Job Fair with more than 30 employers will take place at Monrovia Community Adult School on Wednesday, Feb. 5, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Free lunch for applicants of at least three jobs. Register here.
