  1. Charlotte Ave. was named after Charlotte Keefer Root the granddaughter of Col. Samuel Keefer who owned all 40 acres of land between that street and Myrtle from Foothill to Hillcrest. He purchased the land directly from Lucky Baldwin and invested tens of thousands into the founding of Monrovia. Yet, because he took his own life, he's not proclaimed amoung the founders. It is a sad reflection of the stigma against mental health from those days. Perhaps that fact could be addressed again?
