Diseased oak removed from MHS grounds
An iconic oak tree in front of Monrovia High School has been removed due to irreversible damage from fungus and oak borer beetles. The school district reports that arborists determined the tree could not be saved and removal was necessary to protect nearby trees and ensure public safety. Salvaged wood will be used for plaques and benches and a new tree will be planted in its place.
