Clair's puppies have been adopted, now its her turn to find a forever home
Clair is a 4-year-old gray pittie with the softest eyes and the biggest heart. She was rescued as a stray momma with her puppies – and now that all her babies have been adopted, it’s finally her turn to find a loving, forever home.
Clair can be a little timid at first, especially in new places, but don’t let that fool you! Once she feels safe, her sweet personality shines. The moment she settled into her foster home, she turned into a snuggly, affectionate lovebug who just wanted to be close to her humans.
She’s house-trained, polite inside the home, and gets along wonderfully with other dogs (according to her foster parent, she was especially smitten with her foster companion Odie, an 80-pound pittie mix). Clair enjoys short play sessions followed by long cuddle breaks, and she has “sit” and “down” mastered like a champ.
If you’ve fallen in love with Clair, she is available for a 10-day-adoption trial, foster, or adoption. Come by and meet this sweet girl today!
The adoption fee for dogs is $150. All dog adoptions include spay or neuter, microchip, and age-appropriate vaccines.

New adopters will receive a complimentary health-and-wellness exam from VCA Animal Hospitals, as well as a goody bag filled with information about how to care for your pet.

Halloween Live Oak cemetery tour returns Oct. 25, 26
The Halloween tour of Live Oak Cemetery is returning. Jim Wigton will carry on Steve Baker’s tradition of storytelling among the graves at Live Oak. Tales of notable burials, local history, and just enough spookiness to set the mood.

Cover to Cover children's reading club begins at library
In-N-Out Cover to Cover Reading Program begins October 4 for children ages 4 to 12. Register at the library customer service desk and take home a reading log. For every five books or 300 minutes read, signed logs can be exchanged for a certificate redeemable for a free hamburger or cheeseburger at In-N-Out. Each child may earn up to three rewards through Nov.15.

School Board discusses a short-term fix for high school pool, with a new pool as long-term plan
Karen DeClue, a local aquatics advocate, said in her newsletter that City Manager Dylan Feik told her that the city is willing to help pay for the temporary fix. In return, she said, the city wants the schools making an effort to open their campuses to the public again as parks during the weekends.
Note: The board did not vote to make a temporary fix to the pool, but did discuss the matter. Also, DeClue clarified that the information about the city wanting school campuses open during non-school hours did not come from Feik. I have edited the post to fix these issues.
