New Monrovia Starbucks at Foothill and Madison?

The Monrovia Development Review Committee has recommended that the Planning Commission approve a drive-through Starbucks at 860 West Foothill Blvd. ( http://goo.gl/CtEvWT ), which appears to be at the location of the current Burger Shack, at the corner of Foothill and Madison ( http://goo.gl/MkD4KM ).

  2. Actually, there are only 2 Starbucks in Monrovia. The one in Pavillions is a lisenced store, meaning Vons pays to use the Starbucks name, its run by Vons employees.

    1. It's still a Starbucks for all intents and purposes. They wear Starbucks uniforms and sell Starbucks products emblazoned with Starbucks logos.

    1. I agree. When I see a Starbucks, it serves as incentive to find the local coffee shop which is sure to be nearby.

    1. Oops, I was thinking of the Burger Basket down on Duarte. No, the Burger Shack on Foothill is too expensive.

    2. "Too Expensive", really? I guess Micky Dee's Happy Meals are within your budget?

  6. Finally, a drive through Starbucks in our area! It's long overdue for Burger Shack to be demolished.

  7. My concern is the traffic at a location that has plenty of traffic already. A high school right down the street as well as the only gas station on Foothill in Monrovia. I enjoy Starbucks coffee but I feel the location is a poor choice.

  8. starwitch, that's exactly why starbucks chose the location. High traffic area with high school kids that will buy the product in the morning and afternoons.

    1. Thats exactly right. Where there's a lot of foot traffic, Starbucks wishes to be. If people don't like Starbucks don't go to one. No one is forcing you to go to Starbucks. I prefer Coffee bean, but welcome a change in that location of Foothill & Madison.

  9. I agree with previous commentors. Do we really need another Starbucks in Monrovia? As a business model, a location right next to a High School probably looked very appealing. With all those hormone-riddled young people getting their $5 caffeine fixes, the place will probably be SRO in the morning before school and in the afternoon. The Drive-thru aspect worries me as far as traffic control around the store.
