New Businesses in Monrovia | Huff Worries About Governor's Budget

~ A list of businesses that opened in Monrovia in 2011. http://goo.gl/LsJBR

~ Senate Republican Leader Bob Huff (who represents Monrovia ) worries that Governor Brown's proposed budget will "increase the state’s dependence on highly volatile income tax payments by the state’s wealthiest individuals" and result in "yet another boom and bust cycle" ( http://goo.gl/B8M8e ). Opinion: Ya know, a boom and bust cycle wouldn't be so bad if Sacramento would only restrain itself during the booms so we don't go broke during the busts.

  1. Brad-Its good to see a complete list of the new businesses that came to town in 2011. Thanks ! Could we also see a complete list of the businesses that closed AND those that moved out (i.e. still in biz, just not here) in 2011 ? Its very hard for citizens to understand what's really going on ( ...net gain? net loss? ) when only one set of numbers (the gains) is specifically reported. And those of us with a tendency to skepticism are more likely to suspect the worst when the City (including the Chamber of Commerce, which seems to be a branch of City Hall) only gives the media and citizens those facts they see as "good news". Just looking for a complete, balanced picture. Thanks!-Kate

  2. Looking at the net gain or loss is a fair point, and if I encounter such a list, I will use it. In the meantime, as notable businesses come or go, I will point them out as they come to my attention.
