Monrovia Police: Attempted Murder; Car vs. Tree; Fighting Over Finances

During the last seven-day period, the Police Department handled 391 service events, During the last seven-day period, the Police Department handled 391 service events, resulting in 60 investigations.

Attempt Murder – Suspects Arrested
May 25 at 3:17 p.m., officers responded to a park in the 300 block of East Lime Avenue regarding a fight in progress. An altercation occurred and it appears that three male victims in their late teens were involved in a fight with two male suspects. During the fight, one of the three victims was stabbed in the abdomen. The injury is not believed to be life threatening and the victim is currently receiving medical treatment. The preliminary investigation indicates that the victim and the suspects may know each other, and at this point in time, the fight does not appear to be gang related. The two suspects have been arrested and are awaiting their court appearance.

Vehicle Burglary
May 26 at 4:53 a.m., an officer responded to the 300 block of West Central regarding several vehicle burglaries. One of the victims parked his company vehicle in his driveway at 6:30 p.m. He returned to his vehicle at 4:30 a.m. to find his window had been smashed and his company phone was missing. Two additional vehicles in the area had also been burglarized. A briefcase and change were taken from the other vehicles. The investigation is continuing.

Injury Traffic Collision
May 27 at 1:40 p.m., a driver was injured in a solo traffic collision into a tree in the 700 block of Norumbega. Alcohol was suspected, but the driver was sedated by the time the officers arrived at the hospital. A search warrant will be written to secure the medical test results. The investigation is continuing.

Domestic Violence – Suspect Arrested
May 27 at 7:34 p.m., an officer was dispatched to a residence in the 700 block of West Foothill regarding a family dispute. A husband and wife were fighting over finances and the husband assaulted the wife and threatened to kill her. The wife had visible injuries. The husband was arrested for domestic violence and an Emergency Protection Order was issued.
