Monrovia Cooling Centers | Power Outages | STAAR CEO Retiring

~ Mayor Mary Ann Lutz reports that with the hot weather, the Monrovia Community Center and Library will act as a Cooling Center for residents who need to escape the heat, on Saturday (10/4) 8 a.m.-6 p.m. and Sunday (10/5) 8 a.m.-6p.m. Also, the cool library will be open Saturday (10/4) noon-5 p.m.

~ Apparently some brief blackouts today. Residents reported electricity out on the 500 block of Magnolia and on part of Myrtle for an hour.

~ STAAR Surgical Company of Monrovia today announced that Barry G. Caldwell, President & CEO (64), will retire on March 1, 2015. STAAR Surgical is a developer, manufacturer and marketer of implantable lenses for the eye. http://goo.gl/vlY59V

  1. Out on N. Alta Vista from about 9-10 a.m. Edison recording described it as "widespread outage in Monrovia."
