A Moment in Monrovia History: Sgt. Richard Taylor, the Monrovia cameraman who filmed D-Day

Sgt. Richard Taylor, son of Mrs. John Mills of 332 E. Palm Avenue, was an Army Signal Corps cameraman who waded ashore onto Omaha Beach on D-Day, 1944. Wounded but still filming, he shot hundreds of feet of film that became a newsreel, which Americans, including those at Monrovia's Lyric Theatre, watched a week later. From the Dick Singer collection. See full details here.
