Lunch (Again) at Sam's Kabob Room

Lunch (again) at Sam's Kabob Room, this time after the Kitchen Nightmare make-over. Nice, clean and open atmosphere. For $4 got lentil soup for appetizer (very tasty!) and the chicken kabob with couscous and hummus ($10 and good). $2.25 for iced tea. Total was $30.99 plus tip for two of us. (Sorry for the yucky photo).

  1. Lunch post Ramsey: Truncated menu big dissapointment. Selected the Mezze platter, falafel (2) pieces, decent, hummus both regular and red pepper ok, decent serving size. Pita was dry and bordering stale. They used to serve it warm. wrapped in a cloth napkin, so when you got it, it was warm and soft and delicious. Zuchini fritters were geasy & soggy and you could taste the OLD oil. Awful. The cinamon/sugar chips were terrible; very stale. As for the decor? Chinese paper lanterns in a Mediteranean restaurant? Picnic tables? Really? What of the lady in the heels attempting to navigate the bench seat? Not a good idea. Dark walls, cheap paper color blocks attached with large ugly screws and no attempt to smooth out the warps in the paper. Very shoddy job. Walls would have been better a soft yellow, like Mediteranean sunshine. Or even a lighter shade of the color of the chairs; which I believe is called Mediterean blue. There are (3) Mediteranean restaurants, The Garden Grill, The Patio and Sam's. Garden Grill and Patio are very nice, upscale and pricey. Sam's was, a better deal. Yes, I agree Sam's needed a makeover, but it should have been more a Mediteranean decor, rather than the cheap, shoddy paper color blocks, picnic tables and paper lanterns. This diner won't recommend Sam's.
