Dick Singer history tells Monrovia's World War I story

Local author Dick Singer has written another history for the Monrovia Legacy Project, ‘Over Here: Monrovia’s First War 1917–1918.’ It follows Monrovia’s involvement in World War I and the young men who left home for the war.  It tells such stories as when Supply Sgt. Lewis Collins was marrying Beatrice Nelson in his family’s living room on White Oak Avenue (now Foothill Boulevard). When word got out, the regimental band interrupted the wedding breakfast, played the wedding march and escorted the newlyweds to the parade grounds to review the troops. The entire illustrated document is here.
