A fire broke out along the Santa Anita Wash near Bonita Street this morning about 10:30. It sent billows of black smoke into the sky, but was quickly put out. Some social media posts indicated it may have been a homeless encampment that caught fire.

From walking through the Wash, I have hard time understanding the a fire there that emits primarily black smoke.
ReplyDeleteI have to say...what grows there to burn, much less with copious black smoke?
I'll guess there was a lightning strike out of the thunderstorm of the day. Couldn't possibly be a homeless lunatic lighting something off. They love the environment and are careful to honor it.
