Monrovia High School swimming pool reopens Jan 12

The pool under construction.

The pool finished.

The Monrovia High School swimming pool will reopen on Jan. 12 after critical repairs, thanks to a partnership between the city, which contributed money, and school district. The restoration ends a period of off-site practices for swim and water polo teams.

  1. In return for the City’s $210,000 contribution, about 60% of the cost of the pool repairs, according to the staff report for the December 16 meeting of the City Council, the school district agreed, through the year 2030, to open green space at its five elementary schools to the public at certain days and times.

It’s disappointing but understandable that there seems to be no provision for public access to the pool itself, for lap swimming, lessons, or other programs.
