Dinner at Baja Mar Fish Taco, in the little shopping center at Foothill and May. Got the fish taco combo for $11.99 and a soda for $3.49. Very bueno. (Sorry about the picture. I was hungry, forgot to take a picture, and ate one of the two tacos before I remembered.)

One thing I have missed about CA and North ID is good Mexican, Italian, Thai and other foods. And Alitalia Pizza, before the change in ownership a few years back.
ReplyDeleteThe good news is discovery of new places which fill the gap enough, and expanding my cooking horizons to sous vide and other stuff.
Today "the Gray" is upon us, clouds that thickened as the day wore on, so that 3PM was quite dark. The clouds now are without the grace of hard rain or snow. Western WA have seen buckets of rain and flooding but we are not forecast to get much precipitation. Outside temp is 46F, and are forecast to be in the high 30's to 50F until late this month. We had about 4" of snow up to last week, now it has melted.
Good food is a diversion from dull weather. I made Green Chili Stew (New Mexico-style, from the Jimtown Store Cookbook) for Thanksgiving. It was glorious. Followed up early this week with a chicken curry with seasonings from a friend I met up here who was born in South Africa and emigrated in the middle 1990's. Very nice lady, and coming to curry from the Boer tradition out of Indonesia and the East Indies.
It is close to Indian style, but different. It too was glorious. I changed my usual cooking method to loosely follow a recipe in a NYT Cookbook from the last century.
