Dinner at Chicken King Express, at the northeast corner of Foothill and Mayflower. Got the chicken kebab plate for $14.95 and a soda for $1.50. Very yummy.

Lunch at Gene’s Grinders

Lunch at Gene’s Grinders, at southeast corner of Myrtle and Walnut. Got a small Gene’s Special for $11.50 and a soda $2.50. Good. I really liked the smokey flavor of the ham.

Lunch at Nano Cafe, on the north side of Duarte Road just east of Mayflower. Got the Santa Fe Chicken Sandwich for $14.99 and an iced tea for $3.49. Really good, both sandwich and pasta salad

Breakfast at Café de Olla. Got the Omelette Supreme for $14.75. Bacon, avocado, and jack cheese. Also a Café de Olla (spicy Mexican style coffee) for $4.75. Good

Lunch at the new Baja Cali, in the shopping center at Huntington and Magnolia. Clean and modern. I got a ceviche tostada for $5.99 and a lime-cucumber drink for $3.99. It was good.

Dinner at 38 Degrees, on the south side of Colorado just east of Myrtle. Got a pizza with pastrami, pickles and mustard for $16 and a beer for $5. Different and tasty.

Dinner at Kiku Sushi, on the west side of the Huntington Oaks shopping center. Got the Tokyo Combo for $15.99 and a beer for $5.75. Came with miso soup. Very tasty.

Had dinner at K-Chicken & Beer, on the east side of Myrtle just south of the theater. Got a small order of chicken wings for $16.95, a beer for $8.95. Nice.

Dinner at Jake’s Roadhouse

Dinner recently at Jake’s Roadhouse on the east side of Myrtle just north of Olive. Got the Smoked Sausage dinner (one spicy Texas and one Polish) for $15.95 and a beer for $5.25. Plenty to eat and it was good. Also, I like beer in a cold mug and that’s how I got it.

Dinner tonight at Popeyes. Got the 2 piece combo with rice and beans and coleslaw for sides, plus a drink, for $10.49. Nice crisp fried chicken and I really liked the smoky flavor or the beans.

Dinner recently at JB Burger, at the northwest corner of Myrtle and Olive. Got the Patty Melt for $5.25 and an Orange Bang for $2.25. Good and very reasonably priced.

Dinner recently at Mikomi Sushi on the west side of Myrtle at Colorado. Got the BBQ Pork Belly entree for $18.50 and a beer for $4.50. Very nice.

Dinner recently at Oto-Oto Japanese restaurant in the shopping center at Fifth and Huntington. Got the Pork Kakuni (pork belly) bento box for $12.95 and a beer for $5. Excellent!

Lunch at Merengue Bakery

 Lunch today at Merengue Bakery and Cafe, on the west side of Myrtle a bit south of Lime. Got the MediaNoche sandwich (pork, ham, Swiss cheese, pickle) for $8.75 and a beer for $5. It came with plantain chips. Very nice.

Dinner at the newTacos Ensenada, on the north side of Huntington just east of Monterey Ave. Got two Tacos Baja (fish and shrimp) for $9.40 and a small horchata for $2.09. The décor is basic but the tacos were delicious!

Dinner at La Noria, the food stand at the northwest corner of Foothill and May. I got the tostada, called a “Flaying Saucer,” with carnitas for $7.99 and a medium soda for $1.90. The meat doesn’t show here but there was plenty. Very good.

Dinner at Basin 141, at the corner of Myrtle and Lime. Got the chicken mole tacos for $14 and a beer for $6. Very nice.

Dinner at La Sexy Michelada

Dinner at La Sexy Michelada, a new Mexican restaurant at the former Los Gueros site on the north side of Huntington just west of Magnolia. Got the fish soup for $16.99 and a Sencilla Michelada for $9.79. The meal came with tortillas as well, though not shown. There was a lot of fish in the soup. Very good.
