Lunch from Cafe X2O, on the north side of Foothill just east of Alta Vista. Got the Chicken Kebab ($14) and substituted the rice with spinach for about $4 (wasn’t broken out so not sure). Very good. I enjoyed it all.
Lunch from Nano Cafe, at the northeast corner of Magnolia and Duarte Road. Though it was lunch I felt breakfasty so I got the California Omelet for $12.99 plus $1 to switch out hash browns for fresh fruit. Lunch yesterday from LeRoy’s, on the north side of Huntington just west of Mayflower. Called in (357-5076) and got the Pastrami Melt with coleslaw for $8.69. Picked it up 10 minutes later. Lots of pastrami and very tasty.
Dinner from Cafe X2O. Ordered through Doordash, so it cost a bit more. Got the Chicken Shawarma plate for $14 (plus $7.23 to substitute spinach for rice, and for grilled veggies). It looks like it's less if you pick it up in person ($12 for the Schawarma, $4 for the spinach, and $2 for the veggies). X2O is on the north side of Foothill just east of Alta Vista. Food was delicious!
Got dinner from 38 Degrees, on the south side of Colorado a half block east of Myrtle. Got the Beef Brisket with sides of beans and kimchi for $15. Curb-side pick-up was easy and quick and the meat was tender and well prepared. Very nice.
Got the taco take-out for four for $55 from Sena, on the west side of Myrtle just south of Lime. Got short rib and chicken tacos, with jalapeño beans, sauces and a LOT of chips. Very good.
I like to eat dinner out, especially at pleasant little restaurants such as Cafe LuMar, on the south side of Colorado a half block east of Myrtle. But because of the Coronavirus we ordered and took our food home. I got the goulash for $18. Very tasty.
Lunch at Domenico’s, on the south side of Huntington just east of Magnolia. Got the Soup and Salad Combo off the lunch menu for $8.99, plus I upgraded the salad to an antipasto for $2.95. That and an iced tea for $2.95 Lots of meatballs in the minestrone. Very nice on a rainy day.
I’ve seen the following elsewhere but this is the first time in Monrovia: “We are a proud supporter of CA Living Wage Initiative; as a result a CA mandate surcharge is added to all guest checks.” The charge was $.96.
Lunch at the new Ikonicks Burgers, on the east side of Myrtle near Lime. Got “The Alpha,” a two slider meal for $9. I got the Greek lamb and the Dry-Aged Beef. Also a beer for $6. Very tasty.
Lunch at Burger Basket, at the corner of Duarte Road and Mayflower. Got the #1 Special, a cheeseburger, fries, and soft drink for $6.50 (cash only). Good meal for.a good price.
Lunch at the new Cafe on Lemon (former Wang’s Place) on the south side of - you guessed it - Lemon, about a half block east of Myrtle. It’s a casual breakfast-lunch kinda place. Got the Greek Salad ($9.95) with chicken ($4) and a “#NoToxicEnergy” drink (a juice blend) for $5.85. Good.
Lunch at Cafe X20, on the north side of Foothill just west of Melrose. Got the Chicken Shawerma Plate for $12 and a beer at a special half-off price of $3. Very good! Liked it a lot.
