During the last seven-day period, the Police Department handled 450 service events, resulting in 109 investigations.

No-Bail Warrant – Suspect Arrested
On May 2 at 10:18 a.m., a resident of an apartment complex in the 1800 block of S. Alta Vista reported an adult female in the laundry room of the complex who was partially undressed and attempting to wash herself. Officers responded and determined no indecent exposure occurred; however, a computer check revealed the subject had a no-bail warrant for her arrest. She was arrested and taken into custody per the authority of the warrant.

Public Intoxication – Suspect Arrested
On May 2 at 9:45 p.m., officers were patrolling the area of Magnolia and Huntington, when they witnessed a male subject nearly falling on a vehicle as he was walking in the crosswalk. A welfare check was conducted and the subject was found to be too intoxicated to care for his safety or the safety of others. The subject was arrested and held for a sobering period.

Driving Under the Influence – Suspect Arrested
On May 2 at 11:49 p.m., an officer was on patrol in the 1400 block of S. Mountain, when he saw a vehicle fail to stop at a red light at an intersection. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver displayed signs of being under the influence of alcohol. Field sobriety tests were conducted and the subject was arrested for DUI.

Residential Burglary
On May 3 at 11:33 a.m., a resident in the 300 block of E. Foothill returned home and discovered his house had been burglarized within the last three hours while he was away. The suspect gained entry into the locked home and stole several items, including the ashes of the home owner’s deceased wife. This investigation is continuing.

Petty Theft
On May 3 at 2:50 p.m., a resident in the 600 block of Parker walked outside his home and discovered someone had ransacked the inside of his unlocked vehicle. Several personal items were stolen, including cash. This investigation is continuing.

Public Intoxication – Suspect Arrested
On May 4 at 2:09 a.m., a male subject reported possible underage drinking occurring at an establishment in the 400 block of S. Myrtle. Officers arrived, but all of the patrons were gone. The male subject who called police was being argumentative and aggressive with employees at the location. When officers spoke with the subject, he was found to be extremely intoxicated and unable to care for himself. He was arrested for public intoxication and held for a sobering period.

Vehicle Vandalism
On May 4 at 12:44 p.m., an employee of a store in the 700 block of E. Huntington walked to her car and discovered someone had shattered one of the windows while she was working. Officers responded and determined no one had entered the vehicle, which was still locked. The caller said nothing was missing from inside her car. This investigation is continuing.

Vehicle Burglary
On May 4 at 1:50 p.m., a customer of a store in the 700 block of W. Huntington walked outside the store to her car to leave and discovered someone had shattered one of her car windows. The suspect entered her vehicle and stole her iPhone. Officers searched the area for any possible suspects, but did not locate anyone in the area. This investigation is continuing.

Vandalism
On May 4 at 2:07 p.m., a resident of an apartment complex in the 800 block of W. Foothill reported a vandalism incident. Someone had thrown a bottle through a window. It is unknown when the vandalism occurred. This investigation is continuing.

Injury Traffic Collision
On May 4 at 4:48 p.m., a caller reported two motorists collided into one another at the intersection of California and Huntington. Officers responded and found one of the drivers injured his shoulder. Monrovia paramedics transported him to a nearby hospital. The party at fault was issued a citation for failing to stop for a red light.

Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Suspect Arrested
On May 4 at 9:10 p.m., officers were patrolling the 700 block of W. Huntington when they saw a suspicious vehicle parked near the closed businesses. Officer stopped to investigate and contacted a single occupant. The officer obtained consent to search the vehicle and located drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle. The subject was arrested and taken into custody.

Theft From a Vehicle
On May 5 at 7:22 a.m., a resident in the 500 block of Terrado called to report someone had entered her parked vehicle and took items. The vehicle was left unlocked. Investigation continuing.

Theft From a Vehicle
On May 5 at 7:49 a.m., a theft from a vehicle was reported in the 500 block of Hacienda. The victim reported that someone entered her parked vehicle and took items. The vehicle was left unlocked. Investigation continuing.

Hit & Run Traffic Collision
On May 5 at 9:45 a.m., a resident in the 100 block of S. Mayflower called to report a vehicle had collided into his parked vehicle sometime during the night and fled the scene without leaving their information. Investigation continuing.

Drug Activity – Suspect Arrested
On May 5 at 3:08 p.m., an officer was patrolling the 100 block of W. Walnut when he saw three subjects in the alley looking into buildings. The officer stopped and spoke with the subjects. He learned that one of the subjects was on active parole. The officer did a pat down search on the subject and located a needle and small useable amount of methamphetamine. The subject was arrested, transported to the station and booked. He was also found to be on parole and a parole hold was obtained.

Driving Under the Influence – Suspect Arrested
On May 6 at 1:48 a.m., officers were on patrol in the 3000 block of S. Myrtle when they stopped a vehicle for traffic violations. During the stop, the driver displayed signs of being under the influence of alcohol. Field sobriety tests were conducted and the subject was arrested for DUI and held for a sobering period.

Commercial Burglary
On May 6 at 10:04 a.m., an employee from a business in the 2600 block of S. Myrtle called police to report that sometime over the weekend someone forced entry into several storage containers. It appears the containers were rummaged through, but the loss is still being determined. Investigation continuing.

Warrant / Violation of Court Order – Suspect Arrested
On May 6 at 8:14 p.m., an officer on patrol saw a subject near Library Park who had been served a court order to stay away from the park. The officer stopped and detained the subject for investigation. A computer check revealed the subject had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. The subject was arrested and taken into custody.

Grand Theft Auto
On May 7 at 6:08 a.m., a resident in the 200 block of Violet called to report his vehicle was stolen sometime during the night. The victim reported his wallet was in the vehicle when it was stolen and his credit cards had been used. Investigation continuing.

Injury Traffic Collision
On May 7 at 7:28 a.m., a caller reported a traffic collision near Magnolia and Lime. Officers responded to the location and checked on the welfare of all parties involved. The occupants complained of minor injuries. Monrovia paramedics arrived on scene to treat the parties involved. The motorist at fault was issued a citation.

Violation of Court Order – Suspect Arrested
On May 7 at 3:12 p.m., a resident in the 1400 block of S. Magnolia called to report a male and female arguing in the area. Officers arrived and located the two subjects. The female had an active restraining order against her, which she was violating by being within 100 yards of a nearby residence. She was arrested and transported to the station for booking.

Possession of Another Person’s Access Card / Warrants – Suspects Arrested
On May 8 at 7:47 a.m., a resident in the 700 block of Norumbega reported a suspicious vehicle in the area. Officers responded and contacted two subjects. A computer check revealed both subjects had warrants for their arrest. They were also found to be in possession of access cards with other people's identification. Both suspects were arrested.

Public Intoxication – Suspect Arrested
On May 8 at 10:20 a.m., a caller in the 400 block of W. Huntington reported a belligerent male yelling at people behind a business loading dock. Officers responded and contacted the subject. He was found to be intoxicated and unable to care for himself. The subject was arrested and later released after a sobering period.

Vehicle Tampering / False Information to a Peace Officer – Suspect Arrested
On May 8 at 3:36 p.m., an officer saw a suspicious vehicle occupied by a male subject in the 600 block of Parker. The officer contacted the subject and an investigation revealed the vehicle did not belong to him. The registered owner was contacted and advised that she has a restraining order against the male subject that has not been served yet. The male subject provided someone else's information to officers in attempt to avoid being served with the restraining order. He was arrested for providing false information to a peace officer and vehicle tampering.

Petty Theft – Suspect Arrested
On May 8 at 4:39 p.m., a male subject entered a business in the 3000 block of S. Peck and took merchandise without paying. Officers responded and the subject was apprehended and arrested.

Domestic Violence
On May 8 at 5:19 p.m., a domestic violence incident was reported in the 1300 block of S. Sherman. Officers responded and contacted the subjects. The investigation revealed the suspect came home upset and intoxicated, and became physically abusive toward his wife. The suspect fled the location prior to officers arriving. A wanted person warrant was issued for his arrest.

Residential Burglary Attempts
On May 8 at 9:12 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the 300 block of W. Duarte regarding a burglary attempt. The resident was home and heard glass breaking. He looked around and found a window had been broken. He then saw someone trying to enter. The resident yelled out and the suspect fled. Officers conducted an area check, but the suspect was not found. Later that evening at 10:39 p.m., another resident in the 300 block of W. Duarte called police to report someone had broken a living room window and gained entry to their home. The investigations are continuing.

Residential Burglary
On April 26 at 9:10 a.m., a resident in the 700 block of W. Walnut called police to report their apartment had been burglarized. Someone entered the apartment through the back door and took a laptop computer, two purses and a wallet. Investigation continuing.

Possession of a Controlled Substance / Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Suspect Arrested
On April 26 at 3:03 p.m., an officer stopped a vehicle for a vehicle code violation in the 1600 block of S. Mountain. During the investigation, he obtained consent to search the vehicle and found methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. The driver was arrested and taken into custody.

Defrauding an Innkeeper
On April 26 at 9:08 p.m., an employee from a hotel in the 700 block of W. Huntington called to report a theft. A male subject used a credit card to check into a room and proceeded to make several charges to the room. The hotel employee realized the credit card did not go through and confronted the subject; he fled without paying. Investigation continuing.

Grand Theft Auto
On April 26 at 9:35 p.m., a vehicle was reported stolen from a business parking lot in the 1600 block of S. Mountain. The victim reported that sometime while he was shopping in the store, his vehicle was taken from the parking lot. The investigation in ongoing.

Weapon Offense – Suspect Arrested
On April 26 at 10:04 p.m., three subjects were reported arguing and causing a disturbance in the street near Lemon and Bradbury. Officers responded and contacted the subjects. Officers discovered that one of the subjects had an unsheathed, fixed-blade knife on his person. He was arrested for the weapon offense and taken into custody.

Public Intoxication
On April 27 at 1:43 a.m., a resident in the 100 block of El Nido called to report a subject yelling in the street. Officers arrived and contacted the subject, who was determined to be under the influence of alcohol and unable to care for himself. He was arrested for public intoxication and held for a sobering period.

Vehicle Burglary
On April 27 at 2:24 a.m., a resident in the 900 block of W. Foothill called police to report a vehicle burglary. She heard her car alarm sounding, went outside and discovered her purse was taken from her vehicle. Officers responded and checked the area, but no suspect was located. Investigation continuing.

Driving Under the Influence – Suspect Arrested
On April 27 at 2:24 a.m., an officer on patrol conducted a traffic stop for a vehicle code violation in the area of Myrtle and Longden. During the stop, the driver displayed signs of being under the influence of alcohol. Field sobriety tests were conducted and the subject was determined to be driving under the influence. The subject was arrested for DUI and held for a sobering period.

Public Intoxication / No Bail Warrants – Suspect Arrested
On April 27 at 10:16 a.m., a business owner in the 600 block of S. Myrtle reported a male subject in the alley yelling. Officers arrived and found the subject heavily intoxicated and unable to care for his own safety. A computer check revealed he had two no-bail warrants out for his arrest. The subject was arrested and taken into custody.

Vehicle Burglary
On April 27 at 11:00 a.m., a resident of an apartment complex in the 500 block of W. Duarte walked outside his home and discovered someone had burglarized his vehicle sometime during the night. It is unknown how the suspect gained entry to the vehicle, but several personal items were stolen. This investigation is continuing.

Non-Injury Traffic Collision
On April 27 at 8:25 p.m., a traffic collision was reported in the area of Mountain and Evergreen. A motorist was traveling west across Mountain from the Walmart shopping center to the Home Depot shopping center. Another motorist was traveling south on Mountain, approaching the Home Depot entrance. The drivers did not see one another and collided. An investigation was conducted and a report was taken.

On April 27 at 10:28 p.m., a resident in the 200 block of W. Foothill called to report a disturbing subject. Officers arrived, located the subject and determined he was too intoxicated to care for his own safety or the safety of others. He was arrested for public intoxication and held for a sobering period.

Traffic Collision / Driving Under the Influence – Suspect Arrested
On April 28 at 7:07 p.m., a caller reported a collision in the area of Myrtle and Central. Officers responded and conducted an investigation. The driver at fault displayed signs of being under the influence of alcohol. Field sobriety test were conducted and a DUI investigation was started. The subject was arrested for DUI and held for a sobering period.

Solo Vehicle Traffic Collision / Driving Under the Influence
On April 28 at 8:24 p.m., a caller reported seeing a vehicle drive off the 210 Freeway and down the embankment. Officers responded, searched the area and located the vehicle with the assistance of an airship. The driver was not injured and displayed signs of being under the influence of alcohol. Since this occurred on the freeway, the California Highway Patrol responded and conducted the DUI investigation.

Domestic Violence – Suspect Arrested
On April 28 at 9:00 p.m., a resident in the 1000 block of Maurice called to report a verbal disturbance at a neighboring home. Officers arrived and contacted the subjects. After a thorough investigation, it was determined domestic violence did occur and the primary aggressor was arrested and taken into custody. An Emergency Protective Order was granted.

Bicycle Theft
On April 29 at 12:03 p.m., a resident in the 1100 block of S. Fifth called police to report a theft. The resident received an email from his property management regarding a break-in at the storage area. The victim walked to his storage unit and saw his bicycle had been taken. Investigation continuing.

Municipal Code Violation
On April 29, at 7:45 p.m., an officer was on patrol in the 300 block of S. Myrtle when she saw two subjects in possession of open containers of alcohol. The officer contacted the subjects and issued them citations for possession alcohol in a park.

Vehicle Burglary
On April 30 at 5:39 a.m., a resident in the 800 block of W. Duarte called police to report a vehicle burglary. The victim left his backpack inside his vehicle, which was parked in the carport. Someone smashed one of the windows on the vehicle and removed the backpack. Investigation continuing.

Robbery
On April 30 at 11:51 a.m., an employee of a business in the 900 block of W. Duarte called to report a robbery that just occurred. A male subject was walking out of the store with a bank bag in his hands. A male suspect approached him and forcefully grabbed the bank bag from the victim’s hands and fled, running north through the parking lot and out of sight. The investigation is continuing.

Possession of a Controlled Substance / Warrants – Suspect Arrested
On May 1 at 3:06 a.m., an officer stopped a bicycle for a vehicle code violation near the intersection of Myrtle and Olive. The subject had a warrant for his arrest and was found to have methamphetamine in the pocket of his pants. The subject was arrested.

Burglary
On May 1 at 10:21 a.m., officers responded to the 200 block of W. Foothill regarding a commercial burglary. Several items of merchandise were stolen from a display case. This investigation is continuing.

Petty Theft
On May 1 at 12:32 p.m., a victim reported her wallet stolen from inside her purse while in the 600 block of W. Huntington. The suspect used a credit card belonging to the victim shortly after the theft. This investigation is continuing.

Shoplifting
On May 1 at 7:43 p.m., officers responded to a report of a male suspect who had just stolen merchandise from a business in the 1600 block of S. Mountain. The suspect left in a vehicle, but the reporting party was able to retrieve a license plate number. This investigation is continuing.

Theft
On April 18 at 1:11 p.m., a resident in the 300 block of Hill called to report a suspicious vehicle. Officers responded to the location and checked the area. They discovered a vehicle that had the catalytic converter stolen off of it. The registered owner of the vehicle was contacted and notified. Investigation continuing.

Petty Theft
On April 18 at 6:30 p.m., an employee from a business in the 100 block of W. Foothill called to report a petty theft. A male suspect entered the store to purchase a small item. He set a $100 bill on the counter, then distracted the employee with questions and took the $100 bill back while the employee wasn’t looking. He then insisted he already gave the employee the money for the item, so the employee provided him with $92.44 in change. The suspect then left the location with the money and the item. Investigation continuing.

Theft From a Vehicle
On April 19 at 7:11 a.m., a resident in the 900 block of W. Walnut called police to report an unknown suspect entered his unlocked vehicle, which was parked in front of his residence, and took several power tools and numerous hand tools. Investigation continuing.

Theft From a Vehicle
On April 19 at 7:54 a.m., a theft from a vehicle was reported in the 900 block of Monterey. An unknown suspect entered the unlocked vehicle and stole a small purse and money. Investigation continuing.

Violation of Court Order – Suspect Arrested
On April 19 at 8:59 p.m., a resident in the 1400 block of S. Magnolia called to report a subject in violation of an active restraining order on their property. Officers responded and located the subject on the property. The restraining order was confirmed and the subject was arrested and taken into custody.

Warrant – Suspect Arrested
On April 20 at 12:34 a.m., an officer was patrolling the 100 block of W. Cypress when he saw a bicyclist commit a vehicle code violation. The officer stopped the subject and learned he had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. He was arrested and taken into custody for the warrant.

Grand Theft Auto Recovered – Suspect Arrested
On April 20 at 1:05 a.m., an officer was on patrol near Foothill and Magnolia when he saw a vehicle traveling with expired registration. A license plate check on the vehicle revealed it had been reported stolen two days prior. The officer stopped the vehicle and the suspect was arrested and taken into custody. The stolen vehicle was recovered.

Driving Under the Influence – Suspect Arrested
On April 20 at 2:12 a.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 2500 block of S. Myrtle for vehicle code violations. During the stop, the driver displayed signs of being under the influence of alcohol. Field sobriety tests were conducted and the subject was arrested for DUI.

Public Intoxication – Suspect Arrested
On April 20 at 9:35 p.m., a resident in the 100 block of W. Cypress called to report a disturbing subject. Officers arrived and contacted the subject, who was found to be too intoxicated to care for himself. He was arrested and held for a sobering period.

Suspicious Circumstances / Evading / Outside Assist – Suspect Arrested
On April 21 at 6:50 a.m., a resident in the 600 block of Terrado called Monrovia police to report a male subject in a vehicle that was driving erratically, honking his horn and yelling. Officers arrived and began an area check. They contacted a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputy in the area, who advised the suspect and vehicle reported to Monrovia police was possibly a suspect that just committed a home invasion in a neighboring jurisdiction. Officers then received information that the vehicle was last seen westbound on Lemon. Within seconds, a Monrovia sergeant who was in the area saw the suspect vehicle in the 200 block of E. Lime. He immediately broadcast the information and began following the vehicle. When he attempted to stop the vehicle, a pursuit ensued which led officers into a neighboring jurisdiction. The suspect eventually turned onto a private roadway and drove through two gates, before coming to a dead end at a residence. Monrovia officers took the suspect into custody without further incident. He was then turned over to Los Angeles Sheriff’s deputies.

Grand Theft Auto
On April 23 at 7:30 a.m., a resident in the 800 block of W. Walnut called to report his vehicle had been stolen. The victim parked his vehicle in front of his resident and locked it. When he returned to his vehicle the next morning, he realized it had been stolen. The vehicle is a gray 2015 Nissan Sentra. It was entered into the law enforcement stolen vehicle system. The investigation is continuing.

Injury Traffic Collision
On April 23 at 4:26 p.m., a citizen called to report a traffic collision in the 600 block of W. Hillcrest. A motorist was traveling west on Hillcrest and decided to make a u-turn without warning. Another motorist was behind the vehicle and was unable to stop in time. The vehicles collided into one another. One of the drivers had visible injuries caused by the airbags deploying. Investigation continuing.

Manufacturing a Controlled Substance – Suspect Arrested
On April 23 at 6:30 p.m., during a thorough ongoing investigation, Monrovia Police Department, Monrovia Fire Department and Los Angeles County Hazmat personnel discovered that a large amount of chemicals at a residence in the 200 block of N. Myrtle were precursors for making controlled substances. The LA IMPACT lab team responded to the residence and obtained a search warrant for the location. One adult male suspect was arrested for manufacturing a controlled substance.

Non-injury Traffic Collision
On April 24 at 9:55 a.m., a traffic collision was reported at the intersection of California and Huntington. Officers responded and found that no one was injured and the two parties did not desire an investigation. They exchanged information with one another.

Commercial Burglary
On April 24 at 12:50 p.m., a commercial burglary was reported at a storage facility in the 2100 block of S. Myrtle. The victim reported someone had burglarized their unit sometime during the night. Officers responded and found the lock to the storage unit door had been cut and miscellaneous personal property was taken. A couple hours later, a second victim reported their unit was also burglarized sometime during the night in the same manner. This investigation is continuing.

Monrovia Man Arrested, Charged With Making Illegal Drugs

According to CBS News, an unnamed man who lived at the home in which chemicals used in the manufacture of illegal drugs has been arrested and charged with manufacturing of a controlled substance.

Monrovia Police Find Cache of Chemicals Used in Making Drugs

On April 23, at approximately 6:40 p.m., Monrovia Police Department officers were called to a residence in the 200 block of N. Myrtle Avenue. Los Angeles County Fire Department Hazmat and Monrovia Fire Department personnel were at the location about a large quantity of chemicals being stored there. Personnel on scene determined that some of the chemicals were precursors for manufacturing controlled substances.

The Monrovia Police Department requested assistance from a regional task force specializing in narcotic enforcement. A search warrant was obtained by investigators and one adult male was arrested for manufacturing a controlled substance.

At the time of this press release, the investigation is still ongoing and there is a presence at the scene of law enforcement and hazmat personnel. There are no evacuation orders and there is no present danger to the community.

This crime is being actively investigated, and anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Monrovia Police Department Detective Division at 256-8041.

Where Crimes Happen in Monrovia

I took a look at the Monrovia Police crime reports for the past year to see where crimes - all crimes - occur in the city. Well, it's mostly where you'd guess. In shopping areas. Remember, this includes everything from vehicle burglaries to shoplifting to robbery. I mean, you kinda expect that shoplifting would take place where there are shops. So basically along Huntington Drive, and to a lesser degree, other shopping areas in town.

But here's one interesting tidbit. Vehicle burglaries. The heaviest concentration by far is on Huntington roughly from Huntington Oaks shopping center to the 900 block, which is just on the west side of the freeway. So if you go shopping there (or anywhere else, for that matter) for heaven's sake don't leave valuables visible in the car. And don't leave your car unlocked. Yes, people actually do that.

Vehicle Burglary
On April 11 at 9:11 a.m., an officer was on patrol in the 2600 block of S. Myrtle and observed a window smashed on a pickup truck in a business parking lot. The vehicle was registered to a local business. The responsible party was contacted and the investigation is continuing.

Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Suspect Arrested
On April 12 at 12:50 a.m., an officer was patrolling the 700 block of W. Huntington when he saw a suspicious vehicle parked in a parking lot with multiple closed businesses. A male subject was inside the vehicle. The officer contacted the subject and he granted consent to the officer to search the vehicle. The officer discovered a methamphetamine pipe. The subject was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia and released on a citation to appear in court on the charge.

Possession of a Controlled Substance – Suspect Arrested
On April 12 at 9:41 p.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop for a vehicle code violation in the 500 block of W. Huntington. During the traffic stop, the driver consented to a search of his person. While the officer was conducting a pat-down search, the subject pulled away and started throwing cocaine out of his pocket. The subject was arrested for possession of a controlled substance without further incident and was taken into custody.

Driving Under the Influence – Suspect Arrested
On April 13 at 2:35 a.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop for a vehicle code violation in the 900 block of S. Mountain. During the stop, the driver displayed signs of being under the influence of alcohol. Field sobriety tests were conducted and the driver was arrested for DUI. The driver was taken into custody and held for a sobering period.

Possession of a Controlled Substance / Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Suspect Arrested
On April 13 at 3:13 a.m., a resident in the 400 block of Monrovista called police to report a suspicious person in the area. Officers arrived and located the subject. During a consensual search of his property, an officer located methamphetamine and a pipe used to smoke narcotics in his possession. The subject was arrested and taken into custody.

Domestic Battery – Suspect Arrested
On April 14 at 12:47 a.m., a citizen called police and reported a male subject hitting a female subject in an alley in the 400 block of S. Myrtle. Officers responded and located the subjects. The female subject did not have any visible injuries; however, multiple witnesses reported seeing the battery occur. The male subject was heavily intoxicated. After a thorough investigation, the male subject was arrested for domestic battery.

Weapon Offense / Warrant – Suspect Arrest
On April 14 at 3:01 a.m., an officer on patrol observed a bicyclist loitering in the 100 block of W. Foothill behind a business that had recently been burglarized. When the bicyclist saw the officer, he started riding west on Foothill. The officer detained the subject, pending an investigation. A computer check revealed he had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. A search incident to arrest was conducted and a dirk/dagger was located in his possession. The subject was arrested and taken into custody.

Driving Under the Influence – Suspect Arrested
On April 14 at 9:58 p.m., an officer was patrolling the 100 block of S. Ivy when he saw a vehicle traveling the wrong way in a lane of traffic. The officer conducted a traffic stop and contacted the driver. The driver displayed signs of being under the influence of alcohol. Field sobriety tests were conducted and the subject was arrested for DUI.

Vehicle Burglary
On April 15 at 7:11 a.m., an employee of a utility company in the 1400 block of S. California called police to report one of their company vehicles had been burglarized sometime during the night. The suspect took tools from inside the locked truck. The suspect also entered the gated yard to the business and took copper wire used for electrical lines. Investigation continuing.

Non-Injury Traffic Collision
On April 15 at 9:19 a.m., a caller reported that a motorist just collided into an occupied parked vehicle in the 200 block of S. Mountain. Officers responded and found that none of the parties were injured and they only wanted to exchange insurance information. One of the drivers admitted to being at fault for the accident.

Public Intoxication / Warrants – Suspect Arrested
On April 16 at 2:19 a.m., a resident in the 100 block of E. Olive called to report multiple subjects causing a disturbance in the area. Officers arrived and located three male adults in an argument. Two of the subjects were too intoxicated to care for themselves and the third subject had two outstanding warrants for his arrest. The three subjects were arrested and taken into custody.

Petty Theft
On April 16 at 8:51 a.m., a resident in the 400 block of W. Walnut walked outside his home to leave for work and discovered someone had stolen the tailgate off his truck sometime during the night. This investigation is continuing.

Grand Theft
On April 16 at 8:58 a.m., employees of a utility business in the 1400 block of S. California arrived to work and discovered someone had gained entry to their gated lot sometime during the night and took copper wire used for electrical lines. This investigation is continuing.

Stolen Vehicle Recovered
On April 16 at 9:34 a.m., an officer on patrol in the 100 block of E. Palm saw a vehicle parked in the public parking lot with no license plates. A check of the vehicle identification number revealed the vehicle was reported stolen to the Inglewood Police Department. Officers recovered the vehicle and found the license plates hidden inside. The suspect was not located.

Hit & Run Traffic Collision
On April 16 at 11:35 a.m., a resident in the 800 block of W. Colorado found her car had been hit by another vehicle while parked in a student parking lot. The driver of the other vehicle did not leave a note before they left the lot. This investigation is continuing.

Petty Theft
On April 16 at 3:35 p.m., the customer of a store in the 500 block of W. Huntington reported her wallet was stolen from her shopping cart while she was shopping. She did not see who took her wallet. This investigation is continuing.

Non-Injury Traffic Collision
On April 16 at 3:50 p.m., a caller reported that a dump truck had collided into a small unoccupied bus that was parked in a private parking lot in the 600 block of S. Mountain. Officers responded to investigate the collision. Insurance information was exchanged and a report was taken.

Domestic Violence – Suspect Arrested
On April 16 at 4:49 p.m., two Los Angeles Sheriff’s deputies reported a male and female subject chasing one another in the 1300 block of S. Alta Vista. Officers responded and the two subjects were detained. Through investigation, it was discovered that the two are involved in a relationship and that the female subject had bitten the male subject on the back, which was why he was running from her. The female subject was arrested for domestic violence.

Domestic Violence – Suspect Arrested
On April 16 at 5:06 p.m., a caller reported two male subjects in a vehicle hitting one another in the 1500 block of S. Myrtle. Officers responded and detained both subjects. The subjects are in a dating relationship. They began hitting one another on the 210 Freeway, where they exited and continued hitting one another. The subject that was found to be the aggressor was arrested.

Non-Injury Traffic Collision
On April 17 at 9:51 a.m., police dispatch received a call reporting two motorists had collided into one another at the intersection of Grand and Foothill. Officers responded and found that no one was injured in the collision. After investigation, the party at fault was issued a citation for the driving violation.

Possession of Methamphetamine – Suspect Arrested
On April 17 at 10:46 a.m., an officer on a traffic assignment in the 800 block of S. Mountain saw a male subject on a bicycle committing multiple vehicle code violations, riding in and out of traffic. He stopped the bicyclist and found he was in possession of methamphetamine. The suspect was arrested.

Non-Injury Traffic Collision
On April 17 at 1:53 p.m., a non-injury traffic collision was reported in the 800 block of W. Colorado. Officers responded and found no one was injured. Both parties chose not to file a report and exchanged information with one another only.

Attempt Burglary
On April 17 at 7:41 p.m., a resident in the 800 block of E. Greystone called to report an unknown subject had removed the window screens on his home. The home was occupied at the time by his wife. The screens had been pried off with a metal tool, but the suspect did not gain entry to the home. The investigation is continuing.

March 22 at 2:19 a.m., a resident in the 500 block of W. Duarte called to report a male and female arguing in the area and causing a disturbance. Officers responded and located the subjects. An investigation was conducted and the male subject was found to be in possession of methamphetamine. He was arrested for possession of a controlled substance.

Traffic Collision
March 22 at 10:21 a.m., a traffic collision was reported at the intersection of Fifth and Huntington. A motorist was involved in a minor, non-injury, traffic collision with another vehicle. She requested an officer assist them in exchanging information only and did not desire a report. Information was exchanged.

Public Intoxication – Suspect Arrested
March 22 at 8:00 p.m., a subject was reported soliciting in a parking lot of a business in the 100 block of W. Foothill. Officers arrived to the location and contacted the subject. The subject smelled of alcohol and was determined to be too intoxicated to care for himself or the safety of others. He was arrested and held for a sobering period.

Public Intoxication – Suspect Arrested
March 22 at 8:40 p.m., an officer was on patrol in the 400 block of W. Huntington when he saw a man stumbling along the sidewalk, nearly falling into the street. The officer contacted the subject to check on his welfare and determined the man was too intoxicated to care for himself or the safety of others. He was arrested for public intoxication and held for a sobering period.

Driving Under the Influence – Suspect Arrested
March 22 at 11:07 p.m., officers were patrolling the 2500 block of S. Myrtle when they saw a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed and swerving in lanes of traffic. A traffic stop was conducted and further investigation revealed the driver was intoxicated. The driver was arrested and held for a sobering period.

Battery
March 23 at 6:27 p.m., a physical altercation between a male and female was reported at a residence in the 1700 block of S. Mayflower. Officers arrived on scene, but the male subject fled prior to their arrival. The female victim is the male suspect's mother. She reported that her adult son came to her house asking for money, and when she refused to give him money, he battered her. The victim was treated on scene by Monrovia Fire Department paramedics for minor injuries. An emergency protective order was obtained against the suspect. Investigation continuing.

Possession of a Controlled Substance – Suspect Arrested
March 23 at 9:16 p.m., an officer detained a suspicious subject who was loitering in the 700 block of E. Huntington where an alarm activation occurred. During a consensual search of the subject, a methamphetamine pipe was recovered from his pocket. He was arrested and later released with a citation to appear in court.

Fraud / False Personation – Suspects Arrested
March 23 at 10:16 p.m., an employee from a business in the 500 block of W. Huntington called to report a shoplifting incident that had just occurred. Officers arrived on scene and located the suspects. During the investigation, the female suspect produced someone else's identification to officers and tried to pass it off as her own. The male suspect was found to be in possession of various identification cards and bank cards issued to different people. Both suspects were arrested for a variety of charges. During the booking process, it was revealed that the female suspect was not truthful about her name. Once she was positively identified, a computer check revealed she had a full-extradition warrant from the US Marshalls for her arrest.

Driving Under the Influence / Non-Injury Traffic Collision – Suspect Arrested
March 23 at 11:21 p.m., a vehicle was traveling east in the 400 block of W. Duarte and collided into a parked vehicle. Officers arrived on scene and during the collision investigation, there were indicators that the driver was under the influence of alcohol. Field sobriety tests were conducted, and the driver was found to be under the influence of alcohol. The driver was arrested and held for a sobering period.

Vehicle Burglary
March 24 at 4:45 a.m., a vehicle burglary was reported in the 700 block of E. Huntington. The victim called to report his vehicle was broken into while it was parked at a business. The vehicle window was smashed and miscellaneous paperwork was taken. The investigation is continuing.

Shoplifting
March 24 at 4:17 p.m., a shoplifting incident was reported at a business in the 500 block of W. Huntington. An employee called to report that two suspects entered the store, took merchandise and fled in a vehicle. Investigation continuing.

Telephone Scam
March 25 at 7:08 a.m., a resident in the 500 block of E. Los Angeles reported she had received a call from a male suspect who identified himself as working for the Social Security Administration. The suspect threatened that if she did not give him her social security number, he would send the FBI to her house to arrest her. The victim hung up the phone and called the police. The investigation determined this was a scam telephone call with the intent to defraud the resident. Several other residents throughout the city received similar calls throughout the day.

Trash Picking / Warrant – Suspect Arrested
March 25 at 9:17 a.m., a resident in the 100 block of N. Shamrock reported a male subject rummaging through homeowners private trash cans. Officers responded and contacted the subject, who advised he knew he was not permitted to rummage through trash cans, but was going to continue doing it anyway. A computer check revealed he had a warrant for his arrest. He was arrested for the warrant and taken into custody.

Shoplifting
March 25 at 4:52 p.m., security for a business in the 500 block of W. Huntington reported a shoplifting incident that just occurred. A male suspect entered the store with an empty shopping bag, filled the bag with clothes, and then ran out of the store without paying for the merchandise. Officers searched for the suspect, but could not locate him. This investigation is continuing.

Non-Injury Traffic Collision
March 26 at 9:07 a.m., a traffic collision was reported in the 100 block of W. Duarte. Officers arrived and spoke with all parties involved. No one was injured and the party at fault was issued a citation.

Grand Theft
March 26 at 3:22 p.m., an employee from a business in the 1600 block of S. Mountain called police to report a theft. A male suspect went into the business and stole power tools. He fled the location in a green Toyota Camry before the employee could call police. The suspect was not located and the investigation is continuing.

Vehicle Burglary
March 26 at 9:23 p.m., a vehicle burglary was reported in the 800 block of W. Huntington. The victim reported his vehicle was broken into while he was inside a business. Officers arrived and located an additional vehicle that was burglarized. The two vehicles had the windows smashed and items taken included suitcases, backpacks, a laptop and miscellaneous personal items. Investigation continuing.

Possession of Drug Paraphernalia / False Identity / Warrant – Suspect Arrested
March 27 at 9:16 a.m., a Monrovia Police Detective was traveling through the 500 block of W. Colorado when he saw a vehicle with expired registration tags. The detective stopped the vehicle and spoke with the driver. The detective saw a glass pipe that had been used to smoke methamphetamine in plain view in the vehicle. The suspect was arrested and then he provided a false name to officers during the booking process. Previous booking photographs revealed who he was and it was discovered he had a no-bail felony warrant for his arrest, which was added to his charges.

Residential Burglary In-Progress
March 27 at 10:57 a.m., a resident in the 100 block of Mill Run called police to report that two male suspects had just burglarized her neighbor's home and were fleeing the area in a black vehicle after the house alarm was activated. Officers arrived, but were unable to locate the suspect vehicle. Nothing was seen in the suspect’s hands as they ran from the house. The suspects had shattered a window to gain entry. This investigation is continuing.

Domestic Violence – Suspect Arrested
March 27 at 11:17 p.m., a family disturbance was reported at a residence in the 200 block of W. Pomona. Officers arrived and located the subjects involved. The officers determined there was an altercation between a male and female subject. During the altercation, the male subject suffered multiple scratches and abrasions. After investigation, the female was determined to be the aggressor and was arrested for domestic violence.

In April - Especially - Monrovia Police Will Bust Drivers Using Cell Phones

April is National Distracted Driving Awareness Month, and the Monrovia Police Department will be joining law enforcement agencies statewide stopping drivers who violate California’s hands-free cell phone law. On April 4 and April 18, Monrovia Police Department will have additional officers on patrol looking specifically for drivers on their cell phones.

Last year, Monrovia Police Department issued 168 citations to drivers texting, calling or performing other functions on their phone. Distracted driving is dangerous, especially when it involves a cell phone. According to preliminary data from the California Highway Patrol, 66 people were killed and more than 6,500 injured in 2017 from distracted driving-related crashes.

“Cell phones remain one of the top distractions for drivers,” Monrovia Police Lieutenant Daniel Verna added, “Like any bad habit, it can be hard to break, but this habit can have life-altering consequences.”

A 2018 observational survey by the California Office of Traffic Safety on driver cell phone use found about 4.5 percent of drivers are still using their cell phone illegally, a nearly 27 percent increase from 2016. “That text or phone call will never be worth losing a life over,” said Lieutenant Verna. “That is why curbing distracted driving is high on our priority list.”

Under the most recent cell phone law that went into effect in 2017, drivers are prohibited from having a phone in their hand for any reason and can only use their phone in a hands-free manner. The phones must be mounted on the dashboard, windshield or center console, and can only be touched once with the swipe or tap of a finger to activate or deactivate a function. First-time offenders face a $162 fine.

If you need to make a call or text someone, pull over and park at a safe location. Struggling to stay off the phone while driving? Put your phone in a place you can’t reach, like the backseat or trunk.

Funding for distracted driving enforcement operations are provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Suspects Arrested in Connection with Fire at Magnolia/Chestnut Auto Shop

According to Pasadena Now, three suspects have been arrested in connection with the fire that occurred on Oct. 9, 2017 at the automotive customization and repair shop at 900 S. Magnolia, at the corner of Chestnut. The LA County District Attorney’s Office has filed 10 felony counts against Alan Sosa (39), Delmy Diaz (40) and Daniel Garcia (40). Attempt Grand Theft Auto
March 14 at 11:16 a.m., a resident in the 800 block of S. Mayflower called to report that someone attempted to steal his vehicle. The resident discovered the steering column had damage consistent with an attempt theft. The suspects did not get the vehicle started, and rummaged through the contents of the vehicle before fleeing. Investigation continuing.

Residential Burglary
March 14 at 1:05 p.m., a residential burglary was reported in the 400 block of E. Lime. The resident had returned home and discovered his front door was closed, but no longer locked. He walked through his home and saw it had been burglarized. He called police. The investigation is ongoing.

Grand Theft Auto
March 14 at 1:30 p.m., a vehicle was reported stolen from the 1000 block of Royal Oaks. The vehicle is a 2001 Mitsubishi Galant that was parked on the street. The vehicle was taken sometime during the night. Investigation continuing.

Possession of a Controlled Substance / Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Suspect Arrested
March 14 at 7:47 p.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for a vehicle code violation. During the stop, the officer saw the driver was acting suspicious and appeared to be concealing something behind his seat. A consensual search of the vehicle revealed the driver was concealing heroin, methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. The driver also had a suspended license. He was arrested for the charges and taken into custody. He was later released on a citation to appear in court.

Weapon Offense – Suspect Arrested
March 14 at 11:32 p.m., a resident in the 700 block of W. Walnut called to report a suspicious person loitering behind a tree. Officers arrived and contacted the subject. While the officers were speaking with the subject, he indicated he had a fixed blade knife concealed in his pocket, ready for use if needed. The knife was confiscated and the subject was arrested for the weapon offense without incident.

Grand Theft
March 15 at 7:44 a.m., a resident in the 700 block of Crescent called to report someone had entered his unlocked vehicle during the night and took two laptop computers, gift cards, a purse, a wallet and miscellaneous credit cards. Investigation continuing.

Injury Traffic Collision
March 15 at 8:53 p.m., officers responded to an injury traffic collision in the area of Foothill and Alta Vista. A motorcyclist was traveling east on Foothill, approaching Alta Vista, when a vehicle made a left turn in front of him onto Alta Vista. The motorcyclist veered to avoid a collision, causing him to fall to the ground. The Honda continued south on Alta Vista without stopping. The motorcyclist complained of pain to his right leg and wrist, but did not want to be taken to a hospital for treatment.

Violation of Court Order – Suspect Arrested
March 15 at 9:59 p.m., a resident in the 1200 block of Sherman called police to report a known female subject that was in violation of an active domestic violence restraining order. Officers arrived and located her in the backyard of the location and she was arrested for violating the court order.

Driving Under the Influence – Suspect Arrested
March 16 at 1:04 a.m., an officer was patrolling the 2000 block of S. Myrtle when he stopped a vehicle for a vehicle code violation. During the stop, the officer suspected the driver was under the influence of alcohol. The officer conducted field sobriety tests and determined the driver was driving under the influence. The driver was arrested and taken into custody for DUI.

Public Intoxication / Warrants – Suspect Arrested
March 16 at 2:09 a.m., a disturbing subject was reported in the 400 block of S. Shamrock. Officers arrived and located the subject. The subject was determined to be too intoxicated to care for his own safety and a computer check revealed he had outstanding warrants for his arrest. The subject was arrested and held for a sobering period.

Possession of a Controlled Substance / Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Suspect Arrested
March 16 at 2:30 a.m., a citizen called police to report a female subject in the 1600 block of S. Myrtle that was acting bizarre. Officers responded and located the subject. She was found to be in possession of used syringes and heroin. The subject was arrested and taken into custody.

Felony Driving Under the Influence / Evading – Suspect Arrested
March 17 at 10:19 p.m., a caller in the area of Mountain and Huntington called police to report a possible drunk driver. Officers responded and located the vehicle and driver, who would not pull over. A brief, slow-speed pursuit was initiated, but the driver ultimately pulled over and complied. After investigation, the driver was arrested for DUI. A computer check revealed the driver had prior DUI convictions. He was booked for felony DUI and for evading.

March 18 at 12:23 a.m., an officer stopped a vehicle for a vehicle code violation. During the stop, the officer suspected the driver was under the influence of alcohol. An investigation was conducted and the driver was arrested for DUI. He was taken into custody and held for a sobering period.

Prowling / Theft of Bicycle – Suspect Arrested
March 18 at 3:37 a.m., a resident in the 500 block of Fano called police to report a male subject that jumped the wall of her complex carrying a bicycle. She then saw him riding a bicycle while carrying another bicycle away from the property. The suspect was detained nearby by officers and admitted to stealing the bicycle he was carrying. The suspect was arrested.

Bicycle Theft
March 18 at 8:18 p.m., a bicycle was reported stolen from outside a business in the 1600 block of S. Mountain. The victim had left the bike in front of the store and when he came out, his bicycle was gone. There is no suspect information at this time. Investigation continuing.

March 19 at 12:39 a.m., an officer was on patrol in the 400 block of S. Ivy when he stopped a vehicle for a vehicle code violation. The driver showed signs of impairment and a DUI investigation was conducted. The driver was arrested and found to be in possession of a controlled substance. The subject was arrested and held for a sobering period.

Petty Theft
March 20 at 5:09 p.m., a resident in the 1200 block of S. Magnolia reported someone had stolen the catalytic converter from his parked vehicle the day before. No witnesses were located. This investigation is continuing.

Door-to-Door Scam Alert
Over the past weekend, the Monrovia Police Department received reports of two types of door-to-door scams going on in Monrovia neighborhoods. In both scams, the suspects claim to be Monrovia High School students raising money. In the first scam, the suspects claim to be students and use the names of school staff in order to convince residents to purchase magazine subscriptions. In the second scam, the suspects are claiming to be students selling gift cards to raise money for college. Please be aware that these incidents are scams and do not hesitate to contact the Monrovia Police Department to report any suspicious activity. March 7 at 3:38 a.m., a caller reported seeing a male subject attempting to enter his neighbor’s vehicle in the 700 block of W. Olive. Officers responded and located the suspect. The investigation revealed the suspect had stolen items from an unlocked vehicle in the area and attempted to enter another. He also provided a false name to officers. After being positively identified, he was found to be on parole. He was arrested and taken into custody.

Vehicle Burglary
March 7 at 6:12 a.m., a vehicle burglary was reported in the 2600 block of Doray Circle. The victim reported both the front and back driver-side windows were shattered on his vehicle, and the suspect ransacked the center console. It did not appear anything was taken from the vehicle. The investigation is continuing.

Vandalism
March 7 at 8:38 a.m., a vandalism incident was reported in the 2600 block of Doray Circle. The victim reported that the rear driver-side window of her vehicle was shattered. Officers responded and conducted an investigation, but no suspect was identified. The investigation is continuing.

Possession of a Controlled Substance / Warrant – Suspect Arrested
March 7 at 1:57 p.m., an officer was patrolling the area of Olive and Myrtle when he saw a known male subject he knew had a warrant for his arrest. The subject was riding a bicycle and tried to flee when he saw the officer. The officer followed the suspect and called for additional officer assistance. While attempting to evade the officers, the suspect crashed his bicycle and then tried to run. He was quickly taken into custody. He was also found to be in possession of a controlled substance. He was arrested and taken into custody.

Battery
March 7 at 5:33 p.m., a female subject reported a battery incident in the 900 block of W. Duarte. She was involved in an argument with her daughter, and her daughter pushed her and caused some scratches. Officers arrived and found the daughter had fled prior to their arrival. The investigation is ongoing.

March 7 at 5:52 p.m., a vehicle burglary was reported in the 700 block of Monterey. The suspect stole keys, receipts, earrings, and other miscellaneous items sometime during the previous evening. The investigation is ongoing.

Hit and Run Traffic Collision
March 7 at 7:37 p.m., a hit and run traffic collision was reported at the intersection of Peck and Live Oak. A driver was stopped at a red light at the intersection and was rear-ended by another vehicle. The suspect driver reversed the vehicle and fled the area, heading north on Peck Road. Officers arrived and checked the area for the suspect vehicle, but it was not located. The investigation is continuing.

Injury Traffic Collision
March 8 at 7:16 p.m., officers responded to an injury traffic collision at Duarte and Mayflower. A vehicle was traveling north on Mayflower, when another vehicle traveling south made a left turn and collided into the driver-side rear portion of the vehicle, causing it to flip over. Both drivers complained of pain, but refused transport to the hospital.

Weapon Offense
March 8 at 7:29 p.m., a caller reported a male suspect talking to himself while holding a knife inside a business in the 100 block of W. Foothill. Officers responded and saw the suspect carrying a switchblade. The suspect was cooperative with officers. He was arrested for being in possession of a switchblade knife.

Hit and Run Traffic Collision
March 9 at 3:04 a.m., a caller reported a vehicle hit a parked car while traveling west on Chestnut. Officers checked the area and located the unoccupied suspect vehicle stopped in the middle of the street at Mayflower and Chestnut. After further investigation, officers located the suspect in her nearby apartment. The suspect admitted to the collision. A report was completed and sent to the District Attorney’s for possible filing of charges.

Grand Theft
March 9 at 10:45 a.m., a caller reported that someone stole the catalytic converter off his parked vehicle in the 800 block of W. Walnut. Officers arrived and a report was taken. The investigation is ongoing.

Domestic Violence / Robbery
March 9 at 10:54 a.m., a domestic violence/robbery incident was reported to police. The female victim advised she had just been assaulted by her ex-boyfriend while they were driving near the intersection of Lemon and Mountain. The two subjects were arguing and the victim asked the male subject to exit the vehicle. As he did, he grabbed her cell phone. She attempted to reach for her phone and he punched her in the face. The victim was taken to a hospital for treatment. The suspect is known and a wanted person warrant was issued for his arrest.

Domestic Violence
March 9 at 10:58 a.m., an officer responded to a domestic violence report in the 200 block of Terrace View. The victim was involved in an argument with her boyfriend, who lives with her. He became angry and began hitting and slapping her, causing her to hit her head on the marble seating in the shower. He then began kicking her and drug her down the stairs. He then left the location prior to police arriving. The victim sustained multiple cuts and bruises, and was taken to a hospital for treatment. The suspect is known and a wanted person warrant was issued for his arrest.

Grand Theft of Catalytic Converters
On March 9, police received three separate calls reporting the thefts of a catalytic converters. The thefts occurred in the 500 block of Parkrose, the 1100 block of Teresita Circle, and the 1800 block of S. Alta Vista. The investigations are ongoing.

Warrant – Suspect Arrested
March 9 at 10:06 p.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on a bicyclist for a vehicle code violation near the intersection of Mayflower and Evergreen. The subject was found to be on probation and had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. He was arrested and taken into custody.

Non-Injury Traffic Collision
March 9 at 10:13 p.m., police dispatch received a call reporting that a vehicle had collided into a building in the 1100 block of S. Fifth. Officers arrived and found a delivery driver had forgotten to place his vehicle into park when getting out for a delivery. The vehicle then rolled into the building, causing minimal damage. A report was taken.

Injury Traffic Collision / Driving Under the Influence
March 10 at 3:03 a.m., a driver was traveling in the 800 block of Magnolia when he collided into multiple parked cars. Officers arrived and found the vehicle had rolled over onto its side. The driver appeared to be intoxicated. He complained of pain to his neck and chest, and was taken to a hospital for treatment. A report was completed and sent to the District Attorney’s office for possible filing of DUI charges.

Driving Under the Influence – Suspect Arrested
March 10 at 3:10 a.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for a vehicle code violation near the intersection of Duarte and Enterprise Way. During the traffic stop, the officer suspected the driver of the vehicle was intoxicated. After field sobriety tests were conducted, the driver was arrested for DUI.

March 10 at 4:04 a.m., a caller reported a driver passed out inside a vehicle that was still running in the 500 block of S. Myrtle. Officers arrived and saw the vehicle on the curb. Further investigation revealed the driver was intoxicated. The driver was arrested for DUI.

March 10 at 4:44 a.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for a vehicle code violation near the intersection of Duarte and Myrtle. The driver appeared intoxicated and field sobriety tests were conducted. The driver was arrested for driving under the influence.

Wanted Person – Suspect Arrested
March 10 at 5:45 p.m., officers arrived at a residence in the 600 block of Vaquero to assist a domestic violence victim in retrieving her property. The male suspect was at the location and was contacted by officers outside the home. He was arrested for domestic violence and taken into custody.

Domestic Violence – Suspect Arrested
March 11 at 10:11 p.m., officers responded to the 800 block of W. Duarte regarding a family disturbance. An investigation revealed a couple had been arguing and the alteration became physical. One of the male subjects suffered an injury as a result. The other was determined to be the aggressor and was arrested for domestic violence.

Driving Under the Influence – Suspect Arrested
March 12 at 3:35 a.m., a caller reported a vehicle was driving with only three tires near the intersection of Mountain and Central. Officers responded to the area and conducted a traffic stop. The driver showed signs of intoxication. After field sobriety tests were conducted, she was arrested for DUI.

Injury Traffic Collision
March 12 at 7:48 p.m., a vehicle traveling near the intersection of Duarte and Magnolia turned left directly into another vehicle. Officers arrived and conducted an investigation. One driver complained of pain, but refused medical treatment. The driver of the first vehicle was issued a citation for failing to yield the right of way.

Domestic Violence – Suspect Arrested
March 12 at 9:45 p.m., a female caller reported she had been assaulted by her boyfriend in the 300 block of S. Lincoln. Officers arrived and conducted an investigation that revealed the female caller was the aggressor. She was arrested and taken into custody.

Theft
March 13 at 1:15 p.m., a female customer of a grocery store in the 100 block of W. Huntington reported that someone had stolen her wallet from her shopping cart while inside the store. Her wallet was inside her open purse in the shopping cart. She believes someone took the wallet out of her purse when she wasn't looking. The investigation is ongoing.

Injury Traffic Collision
March 13 at 2:20 p.m., a traffic collision was reported at the intersection of Magnolia and Central. Officers responded and conducted an investigation. One of the drivers was transported to a nearby hospital to be checked out. The other driver was not injured.

Monrovia PD to Conduct Drunk Driving and License Checks This Saturday

Monrovia Police Department will be conducting a DUI / CDL (drunk driving and driver's license) checkpoint on Saturday night, March 16. Vehicles entering the checkpoint will be stopped. Drivers will then be evaluated for being under the influence of alcohol and checked for having a valid driver's license.

Over the course of the past three years, there have been 123 DUI collisions, with 32 of those collisions resulting in injuries, harming our citizens and neighbors of Monrovia.

In California, this deadly crime led to countless deaths because someone failed to designate a sober driver. Alcohol and drug-impaired deaths still make up the largest category of overall vehicle fatalities, with 29% of all deaths being caused by a drunk driver.

Monrovia Police Department offers these reminders to ensure you have a safe night of fun without a DUI:

• Always use a designated driver - a friend who is not drinking, ride-share, cab or public transportation.
• See someone who is clearly impaired try and drive? Take their keys and help them make other arrangements to find a sober way home.
• Report drunk drivers - Call 911.
• Hosting a party? Offer non-alcoholic drinks. Monitor those who are drinking and how they are getting home.

Getting home safely is cheap, but getting a DUI is not. Drivers caught driving impaired and charged with DUI can expect the impact of a DUI arrest to be upwards of $13,500. This includes fines, fees, DUI classes, license suspension, and other expenses, not to mention possible jail time.

During the last seven-day period, the Police Department handled 437 service events, resulting in 84 investigations.

Shoplifting – Suspect Arrested
February 28 at 1:05 p.m., a shoplifting incident was reported at a business in the 3300 block of S. Peck Road. Loss prevention was reviewing security cameras when they saw a subject tossing merchandise over a fence and into the county park area. They detained the suspect and an associate at the exit. Both were cooperative. The merchandise was recovered and returned. The suspect was arrested and issued a citation to appear in court on the shoplifting charges.

Possession of Drug Paraphernalia/Possession of a Controlled Substance – Suspect Arrested
February 28 at 11:04 p.m., an officer was on patrol in the 1100 block of E. Huntington and conducted a traffic stop on a bicyclist for a vehicle code violation. During the stop, it was discovered the bicyclist was in possession of drug paraphernalia and narcotics. The suspect was arrested and taken into custody.

Shots Heard
February 29 at 2:24 a.m., police dispatch received three separate calls reporting approximately 4 gunshots in a rear alley in the 300 block of California. Officers responded and conducted an area check, but did not find any evidence of gun shots. The reporting parties were contacted; however, they did not see anything, but only heard shots. Officers continued to stay in the area, but nothing was located. The day watch shift conducted an additional search during daylight hours, but again, nothing was located.

Stolen Vehicle Recovered – Suspects Arrested
March 1 at 7:52 p.m., Special Enforcement Team officers located a stolen motorcycle with a punched ignition at a motel in the 900 block of E. Huntington. Further investigation revealed the suspect was staying at the motel along with two other subjects who had warrants for their arrest. Additional officers responded to assist and all three subjects were arrested.

Battery/Public Intoxication – Suspect Arrested
March 2 at 12:17 a.m., a caller reported a physical altercation in the 700 block of S. Magnolia with a female screaming. Officers responded and learned that a boyfriend and girlfriend were sitting in their vehicle arguing. The female was intoxicated. A man walking past the vehicle tried to intervene because he thought the female needed help. The boyfriend exited the vehicle and became involved in a physical altercation with the man who tried to intervene. The boyfriend was arrested on a private person's arrest for battery and the girlfriend was arrested for public intoxication.

Driving Under the Influence/Warrant – Suspect Arrested
March 2 at 2:22 a.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop for a vehicle code violation at Central and Myrtle. During the traffic stop, the driver was determined to be intoxicated and one of the passengers was found to have a warrant for his arrest. After further investigation and field sobriety tests being conducted, the driver was arrested for DUI and a passenger was arrested for a warrant.

Commercial Burglary
March 2 at 3:02 a.m., an alarm activation call was received for a business in the 900 block of S. Alta Vista. Officers arrived shortly after and discovered that forced entry had been made to the front door. A perimeter was set up and an interior search was conducted; however, the suspects had already fled the scene. One of the employees responded and indicated the suspects had ripped the alarm panels off the wall. It was unclear if anything was taken at the time. The business contains jewelry, however, all of the jewelry was secured. The investigation is continuing.

Shoplifting/Parole Violation – Suspect Arrested
March 2 at 4:36 p.m., loss prevention at a business in the 500 block of W. Huntington called to report a shoplifting incident in progress. Officers responded and waited for the suspect to exit the store, where they detained him. Store loss prevention made a private person's arrest of the suspect. The suspect was arrested and found to currently be on parole and was in violation on his parole. He was transported to the city jail.

Possession of Burglary Tools/Warrant – Suspect Arrested
March 2 at 8:04 p.m., officers observed two male subjects acting suspicious to police presence in the south alley of 100 W. Chestnut. As they approached the subjects, they saw they were wearing dark hoodies and had masks covering their faces. The subjects were detained. One subject had a warrant for theft and was also found to be in possession of burglary tools. The second subject was arrested for possession of methamphetamine. Both suspects were arrested and later released with citations to appear in court on the charges.

Theft of Luggage
March 3 at 9:40 a.m., a theft of luggage was reported at a hotel in the 900 block of W. Huntington. The victim set his luggage out in front of the hotel and went inside. When he came back, he saw a male Hispanic subject in his 50's running away with his luggage. He lost sight of the suspect and called the police. The luggage contained his passports and other personal property. An area search was completed, but the suspect was not located.

Commercial Burglary
March 3 at 8:03 p.m., police dispatch received a burglary alarm activation at a commercial building in the 400 block of W. Maple that had been burglarized multiple times. Officers quickly responded and saw a boarded-up window had been forced open. An El Monte Police Department canine unit responded to the location to assist in searching the building. The interior was searched, but the suspect was not located. The owner responded and reviewed surveillance video of the break-in. It appears to be the same suspect from the previous burglaries and an unknown amount of cash was taken from the tip jar. The investigation is continuing.

Vehicle Burglary
March 3 at 11:35 p.m., a vehicle burglary was reported in the 800 block of S. Myrtle. The victim reported that someone had broken into his work vehicle. The victim saw a male and a female Hispanic inside his vehicle. The victim confronted the male suspect and began hitting him with his cane. Both suspects fled in a silver, Volkswagen hatchback. The victim did not find anything missing at the time. The investigation is continuing.

Hit and Run Traffic Collision/Driving Under the Influence
March 5 at 1:23 a.m., officers responded to a traffic collision at the intersection of Shamrock and Valley View. A motorist was traveling north on Shamrock and collided into a parked vehicle near the intersection. The impact was so severe it disabled both vehicles. The driver fled the scene on foot, but was quickly detained nearby. The driver was possibly under the influence of drugs, but due to his injuries, he was taken to a hospital for immediate medical aid. Charges are pending and the investigation is continuing.

Trespassing – Suspect Arrested
March 5 at 1:13 p.m., police received a call reporting a female subject trespassing at a vacant residence in the 400 block of E. Maple. An officer responded and found a female subject sleeping inside the residence covered up with a blanket. An officer made contact with the subject and she said she entered the location through an unlocked door. The officer searched the location and found no signs of forced entry. The subject was arrested for trespassing; she was booked and later released on a citation.

Arson
March 5 at 11:49 p.m., Monrovia Fire and Rescue requested officers respond regarding a suspicious fire in the 900 block of Monterey. Officers arrived and found a bush had been set on fire. They were also told by fire personnel that an earlier fire had occurred in front of the Unity Center on Chestnut. The self-serve library box had been set on fire about an hour earlier. An unknown suspect filled the book box with sticks and debris, and then lit the box on fire. The investigation is continuing.

Structure Fire
March 6 at 12:35 a.m., police dispatch received numerous calls reporting a structure fire at a residence in the 700 block of W. Colorado. Officers arrived and found the location on fire, and the fire had spread to an adjacent home. Multiple agencies responded to assist Monrovia Fire and Rescue with firefighting efforts, including Pasadena and Arcadia Fire Departments. Arcadia and Sierra Madre Police Departments also assisted with evacuations and traffic control. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Theft of Mail
March 6 at 3:56 a.m., dispatch received a call reporting two subjects stealing mail from a location in the 200 Block E. Foothill. They fled west on Foothill in a blue vehicle. Officers arrived and confirmed a theft had occurred. An area search was conducted, but officers were not able to locate the suspects. Investigation to continue.

Theft of Wallet From Shopping Cart
March 6 at 10:45 a.m., a female customer of a grocery store in the 600 block of W. Huntington reported someone had taken her wallet and credit cards from her shopping cart while she was shopping inside the store. She discovered her wallet had been stolen when she went to checkout at the registers and pay. This investigation is continuing.

Theft of Purse From Shopping Cart
March 6 at 11:33 a.m., a theft of a purse at a grocery store in the 600 block of W. Huntington was reported to police. The female victim reported that someone had stolen her purse and credit cards from her shopping cart while she was shopping the day before on March 5. This investigation is continuing.

Trespassing – Suspect Arrested
March 6 at 11:42 a.m., the owner of an unoccupied rental home in the 400 block of E. Maple called police to report a subject that had gained entry into the home somehow and was using it as their temporary residence. Officers arrived and found no-trespassing signs posted around the home. The subject inside was detained, and after an investigation, was arrested for trespassing.

Traffic Collision – Citation Issued
March 6 at 1:30 p.m., a caller reported two motorists had just collided into one another in the 900 block of W. Huntington. Officers responded and found no one was injured. After an investigation was conducted, the party at fault was issued a citation.

Public Intoxication – Suspect Arrested
March 6 at 7:31 p.m., officers were dispatched to the area of Myrtle and Alta Vista regarding a male subject that appeared extremely intoxicated. They arrived and found the subject, who displayed obvious signs of intoxication. The subject was too intoxicated to care for himself and was arrested for being drunk in public. He was held for a sobering period.

Arson
March 7 at 12:03 a.m., dispatch received numerous calls reporting a structure fire at a residence in the 800 block of W. Walnut. The residence was occupied by one male adult, who escaped injury. The Monrovia Fire Department arrived and put out the fire. The Police and Fire Departments are investigating the cause of the fire. Monrovia Police Detectives were called in to assist with the investigation. The investigation is ongoing.

Arsonist? Second House Fire in Two Days

Another house fire, last night. This time on Walnut west of Monterey. The street is blocked off at Monterey. Arson?

February 21 at 3:51 a.m., residents in the 1200 block of S. Magnolia called police to report a vehicle traveling north on Magnolia had collided into several parked cars. The driver exited the vehicle and fled on a skateboard. Officers searched the area, but could not locate the suspect driver. Investigation continuing.

Vehicle Burglaries
February 21 in the early a.m., two vehicle burglaries that occurred overnight were reported to police. The burglaries occurred in the 200 block of Melrose and the 200 block of S. Magnolia. In both incidents the vehicle windows were smashed and items were taken from inside. Investigations continuing.

Petty Theft – Three Suspects Arrested
February 21 at 1:45 p.m., an employee from a business in the 3000 block of S. Peck called police to report three subjects seen throwing car parts from the business over a fence without paying. Officers arrived and located the three subjects. They were all detained and arrested for the theft.

Attempt Robbery
February 21 at 3:33 p.m., an attempt robbery was reported at a business in the 3000 block of S. Peck. A subject concealed speakers in a bag and left the business without purchasing them. Security attempted to detain the subject and a struggle ensued. The suspect picked up a saw blade during the struggle and the security guard sustained a small cut on his finger. The suspect dropped the stolen property and fled in a waiting vehicle prior to the officer arriving. The suspect was not located and the investigation continuing.

Theft From a Vehicle – Suspect Arrested
February 22 at 8:40 a.m., a resident in the 300 block of Valle Vista called to report that sometime during the night a subject entered his unlocked vehicle and stole golf clubs. Later that same day, the golf clubs were recovered by San Dimas Sheriff’s Department and a suspect was arrested. The golf clubs were returned to the owner.

Theft From a Vehicle
February 22 at 5:27 p.m., a resident from the 300 block of Valle Vista called to report that sometime during the night, someone entered his unlocked vehicle and stole items. Investigation continuing.

Driving Under the Influence – Suspect Arrested
February 22 at 8:55 p.m., an officer was patrolling the area of 100 Poinsettia when he saw a vehicle commit a vehicle code violation. The officer conducted a traffic stop and discovered the driver was intoxicated. Officers conducted an investigation for driving under the influence and the driver was arrested for DUI.

Violation of Domestic Court Order – Suspect Arrested
February 22 at 9:04 p.m., a resident in the 1400 block of Magnolia called to report suspicious circumstances regarding someone yelling. When officers arrived, they contacted a male and female who had been arguing. While talking to the female, they discovered there was a restraining order restricting her from the residence where the officers located her. She was arrested for violation of the court order.

Grand Theft Auto
February 22 at 10:54 p.m., a resident in the 2100 block of Peck called to report her vehicle was stolen while it was parked in front of her residence. Investigation continuing.

Driving Under the Influence – Suspect Arrested
February 22 at 11:25 p.m., a caller report an intoxicated male subject that was standing by a truck in the 700 block of E. Huntington. Officers responded and located the subject and the vehicle, which had flat tires. After interviewing witnesses and reviewing the surveillance footage that showed the subject drive the truck into the gas station parking lot, a DUI investigation was conducted and the driver was arrested for DUI.

Drug Activity/Public Intoxication – Suspect Arrested
February 23 at 1:23 a.m., officers were patrolling the area of 400 S. Myrtle when they saw a male subject urinating in public. They contacted the subject and determined that he was too intoxicated to care for his own safety or the safety of others. The subject was arrested for public intoxication and during a search of his person, officers discovered he was also in possession of drug paraphernalia. The subject was arrested and taken into custody.

Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Suspect Arrested
February 23 at 2:56 p.m., an officer initiated a consensual encounter with a known subject. The subject granted consent to search his person and the officer located drug paraphernalia. The subject was arrested and taken into custody.

Injury Traffic Collision
February 23 at 7:03 p.m., a traffic collision was reported in the 800 block of S. Mountain. A motorist was traveling east on Royal Oaks and entered the intersection at Mountain. The other motorist was traveling north on Mountain, approaching Royal Oaks, and failed to stop at the flashing red light, colliding in the motorist traveling on Royal Oaks. A passenger complained of pain and was treated at the scene by paramedics. The driver at fault was issued a citation.

Grand Theft
February 23 at 10:24 p.m., an employee from a business in the 900 block of W. Huntington called police to report a grand theft. An unknown male suspect entered a wedding reception and spent two hours removing numerous envelopes from a wedding money box. He then fled the scene. The investigation is continuing.

Grand Theft
February 24 at 8:16 p.m., a grand theft was reported in the 100 block of E. Palm. The victim reported that while she was attending church, an unknown subject stole a large sum of money from purse. The victim had no idea who stole the money. Investigation continuing.

Driving Under the Influence – Suspect Arrested
February 25 at 12:11 a.m., an officer was on patrol the 3000 block of Peck when he saw a vehicle commit a vehicle code violation. A traffic stop was initiated and the driver displayed signs of intoxication. A DUI investigation was conducted and the driver was arrested for DUI.

Shoplifting/Warrants – Suspect Arrested
February 25 at 9:27 a.m., security for a store in the 1600 block of S. Mountain reported a male subject had entered the store with an empty shopping bag and filled it with merchandise. He immediately went to the return merchandise desk and attempted to return what he had placed in the bag for cash. Store security detained him and called the police. An officer arrived and a computer check revealed the subject had four warrants for his arrest. He was arrested and taken into custody.

Stolen License Plate
February 25 at 9:34 a.m., a resident in the 200 block of E. Olive walked outside her home and discovered someone had stolen the front license plate off her vehicle sometime during the night. The plate was entered in the DMV computer system as stolen. This investigation is continuing.

Burglary/Possession of Stolen Property/Fraud/Parole Violation – Suspect Arrested
February 25 at 11:21 a.m., a subject was working in her office in the 500 block of S. Myrtle and left to go to her vehicle outside. When she returned to her officer, she discovered someone had entered while she was gone and took her purse, which had been hidden under her desk. The purse contained credit cards and personal information. Thirty minutes later, the victim's credit cards were used at several stores in Monrovia. One of the stores had video and officers recognized the suspect who used the victim’s card. Approximately three hours later, they located the suspect at Cypress and Sherman. The suspect was still in possession of the victim's credit cards. He was arrested and taken into custody.

February 26 at 9:37 a.m., an employee from a business in the 1600 block of S. Mountain called to report they had a subject detained for shoplifting. Officers responded and made contact with both parties. The loss prevention employee said the subject picked up a power tool and attempted to walk out of the store without making any attempt to pay for it. A computer check revealed the subject also had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. He was arrested, transported to the station, and booked for the warrant. He was issued a citation to appear in court for the theft.

Grand Theft Auto Recovery
February 26 at 3:50 p.m., a local tow company called to report one of the vehicles they had stored was reported stolen. They learned about it after they placed a lien sale on the vehicle and were denied for that reason. It had been reported stolen by embezzlement from a rental car company. An officer arrived and recovered the vehicle.

Possession of Drug Paraphernalia/Possession of a Controlled Substance – Suspect Arrested
February 27 at 2:15 a.m., an officer was on patrol in the 1600 S. Primrose when he contacted an individual in a parking structure. The subject was found to be a reported missing person. Further investigation revealed the subject was in possession of a syringe containing a controlled substance. The subject was issued a citation for the drug offense and was removed from the missing persons system.

Residential Burglary
February 27 at 9:23 a.m., a resident in the 700 block of Valley View discovered someone had been inside his home and took all his wife's jewelry. It is unknown when this occurred or how entry was made into the home. This investigation is continuing.

Residential Burglary
February 27 at 1:36 p.m., a resident in the 300 block of W. Colorado reported his locked garage had been broken into and multiple tools were stolen. This investigation is continuing.

Grand Theft
February 14 at 11:15 a.m., a grand theft was reported at a business in the 500 block of W. Huntington. On February 13, two male subjects entered the business and went immediately to the menswear section. They selected jeans and polo shirts, threw them into a garbage bag and fled the location. The investigation revealed these two suspects have done this at other local stores and are known to loss prevention. The investigation is continuing.

Attempted Robbery
February 14 at 12:10 p.m., an attempted robbery was reported in the 1600 block of S. Myrtle. The previous night, the male victim was walking on the street and was assaulted by four unknown male suspects. The suspects tried to pull his backpack off of him and a bystander interfered. The suspects ran east and out of sight. Investigation continuing.

Shoplifting / Warrant – Suspect Arrested
February 14 at 5:52 p.m., an employee from a business in the 1600 block of S. Mountain called to report a subject was being detained by loss prevention for shoplifting. Officers arrived and discovered the subject also had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. The subject was arrested and taken into custody.

Domestic Violence – Suspect Arrested
February 15 at 12:34 a.m., a caller reported a loud domestic dispute in the 700 block of W. Foothill. Officers arrived and contacted the subjects. An investigation revealed the couple were involved in an argument that escalated to them pushing each other, causing injuries. The male subject was determined to be the primary aggressor and was arrested for domestic violence.

Vehicle Burglaries
February 15 at 8:26 a.m., a subject called to report his vehicle was burglarized while he was inside Canyon Park. An officer responded and discovered that several other vehicles had also been burglarized. The suspects targeted hatchback vehicles, smashing the rear hatch window and rummaging for valuables while the owners were inside Canyon Park. Investigation continuing.

Suspicious Person / Warrant – Suspect Arrested
February 15 at 1:45 p.m., a resident called to report there were suspicious subjects loitering in the south alley in the 200 block of E. Chestnut. Officers arrived and contacted two subjects. A computer check revealed one of the subjects had several outstanding warrants for his arrest. He was arrested for the warrants.

Non-Injury Traffic Collision / Driving Under the Influence – Suspect Arrested
February 15 at 4:42 p.m., a traffic collision was reported in the 400 block of E. Foothill. The driver at fault was traveling at a high rate of speed and collided with the vehicle in front of him. His vehicle then spun out, went up a curb and sheared off a fire hydrant. Officers arrived and discovered the driver at fault was intoxicated. The officers conducted an investigation for driving under the influence and the driver was arrested for DUI.

Defrauding an Inn Keeper / Assault With a Deadly Weapon / Warrant – Suspect Arrested
February 16 at 4:12 p.m., police dispatch received a call from a hotel in the 700 block of W. Huntington. A subject was refusing to pay his hotel bill and refusing to leave the hotel room. The manager requested police remove him from the room. Officers asked the subject to leave the room, but he refused. A computer check of the subject revealed he also had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. Officers entered the room and found the subject standing just inside the door, holding a large rock. Officers told the subject to drop the rock, but he would not comply. One of the officers activated his Taser and the subject was taken into custody.

Public Intoxication – Suspect Arrested
February 17 at 2:17 a.m., an officer was on patrol in the 100 block of W. Foothill when he saw a subject who appeared to be intoxicated and unable to care for himself. The officer detained the subject and confirmed he was in no condition to care for himself or others. The subject was arrested for public intoxication and held for a sobering period.

Warrant / Court Order Violation – Suspect Arrested
February 17 at 1:11 p.m., an officer was patrolling the 100 block of W. Palm when she saw a subject she knew had several warrants for his arrest and was in violation of a court order. The warrants were confirmed and the subject was arrested and taken into custody.

Shoplifting – Suspect Arrested
February 17 at 1:13 p.m., an employee from a business in the 500 block of W. Huntington called police to report that a male subject concealed merchandise and left the store without paying for it. Officers arrived and detained the subject. The merchandise was recovered and the subject was arrested.

Vehicle Tampering
February 17 at 2:38 a.m., a resident in the 500 block of W. Duarte called to report that her unlocked vehicle was ransacked sometime during the night. The vehicle was parked in a rear parking lot of the complex. Nothing from the vehicle was missing. Investigation continuing.

Vehicle Burglary
February 18 at 7:45 a.m., a resident in the 1800 block of S. Peck walked outside his home and discovered someone had burglarized his vehicle sometime during the night. The suspect had shattered one of the car windows in order to gain entry. This investigation is continuing.

Hit & Run Traffic Collision
February 18 at 8:05 a.m., a customer at a coffee shop in the 600 block of W. Huntington walked outside the store and found a motorist had collided into his parked motorcycle and left without leaving a note. The damage was significant enough that the motorist should have known they collided into the motorcycle. This investigation is continuing.

Assault with a Deadly Weapon – Suspect Arrested
February 18 at 10:23 a.m., a resident in the 400 block of W. Duarte reported her husband was yelling at her and she needed help. Officers responded and separated the two subjects to investigate. The investigation revealed the husband became angry with his wife and threw a glass jar at her, trying to hit her with it. She moved and the jar hit the wall behind her, breaking the jar. Officers arrested the male subject, who later bailed out of jail. A temporary emergency restraining order was obtained and served prior to his release.

Warrant – Suspect Arrested
February 19 at 8:27 a.m., a resident in the 600 block of W. Foothill called to report a possible electricity theft involving an occupied vehicle. Officers arrived and contacted both occupants of the vehicle. The female occupant had two outstanding warrants for her arrest and she was arrested. The other occupant was released at the scene. No evidence was discovered to prove a theft of electricity.

Shoplifting / Warrant – Suspect Arrested
February 20 at 5:30 p.m., security at a store in the 500 block of W. Huntington called police to report a shoplifter that had just left their store with merchandise without paying. Officers responded to the area and apprehended the suspect. The property was recovered and returned to the store. The subject was taken into custody and a computer check revealed he also had a warrant for his arrest, which was added to his charges.

February 20 at 6:47 p.m., a loss prevention employee from a business in the 500 block of W. Huntington reported a male subject that had just shoplifted from their store. Officers responded to the area, apprehended the subject, and the property was returned to the store. The suspect was arrested and taken into custody.

Grand Theft Auto Recovery
February 20 at 10:45 p.m., while handling a call for service in the 300 block of W. Huntington, an officer ran an unrelated vehicle license plate which returned stolen out of Los Angeles. LAPD was notified, along with the registered owner, and the vehicle was recovered.

Hit & Run Traffic Collision
February 21 at 3:51 a.m., a resident in the 1200 block of S. Magnolia called to report a vehicle traveling northbound on Magnolia that collided into several parked vehicles. The driver exited the vehicle and fled from the scene on a skateboard. No other description was given. Officers searched the area, but did not locate the driver. Investigation continuing.
