Dinner at Chronic Taco

Dinner at Chronic Taco, on the west side of Myrtle just north of Palm. Got the two taco plate for $9.95 and a beer. To get a beer you need to first buy a card for $2 and then put money on it. I put $8 on it then touched the card on the tap to get the beer, so the beer cost $8… or less. Or, if you just use the card once I guess it cost $10. Anyway, it was all tasty.

Dobby, Sweet and Sensitive Comedian

Dobby thinks it’s funny to stick out his tongue while getting his photo taken. He probably also likes to tell corny jokes, put a lampshade on his head or whatever it takes to get a laugh. Or at the very least, an eyeroll.

He may be a comedian at heart, but Dobby is also a sweet and sensitive dog. He’s just over a year old, and an active home would be ideal for this active border collie mix.

Pasadena Humane volunteers have taken him on several field trips, and they’ll attest to his love of the outdoors. He is an avid hiker and explores whatever stream he comes across. He is also thrilled to go hang out at Starbucks afterwards and enjoy a puppocino.

Dobby is ready for an open-mic night at your house!

The adoption fee for dogs is $150. All dog adoptions include spay or neuter, microchip, and age-appropriate vaccines.

New adopters will receive a complimentary health-and-wellness exam from VCA Animal Hospitals, as well as a goody bag filled with information about how to care for your pet. Adoptions are by appointment only, and new adoption appointments are available every Sunday and Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. Pets may not be available for adoption and cannot be held for potential adopters by phone calls or email.

Prep For Tropical Storm Hilary

In a special email to the community, City Manager Dylan Feik asked residents to be prepared for Tropical Storm Hilary, which should hit the area tomorrow, Sunday. He suggested:

  • Inspect your vehicles and equipment are working properly. Check your windshield wipers, ensure your tires are not flat or balding, ensure all lights (headlights, emergency lights and brake lights) are functioning.
  • Try to stay home and minimize travel to essential trips.
  • If you need to travel, avoid flooded areas and drive carefully during rainfall or weather conditions affecting visibility.
  • Clear  drains and gutters to prevent blockage and flooding.
  • Secure outdoor items like furniture and grills that may be affected by high winds.
  • Avoid downed power lines or downed trees blocking street traffic and call 911.
  • For downed trees on sidewalks, call Monrovia Public Works at 932-5575.
  • In case of power outages, charge your devices now, including external batteries.
  • Report any power outages to Southern California Edison. Call 800-611-1911.

Because of the possibility of mud flows, bags and gravel are available in front of the Monrovia Public Works Yard (600 Mountain) and at Recreation Park (847 E. Olive). Bring shovels, gloves, and eye protection and take only what you need.

City staff will remain on standby and crews will be monitoring the conditions and impacts of the storm.

Watch Smiling Blair Do Her Full-Body Tail Wag

Two-year-old Blair has a smile that will light up a room. This playful boxer mix is so happy to meet people that she almost instantly will erupt into a full-bodied tail wag. Her adorable underbite will also melt your heart!

Blair loves exploring the play yard at Pasadena Humane. Her wrinkly forehead makes it seem like she’s deep in thought, but we suspect she’s really just focused on finding the treats that she adores. Even at the height of her exploring, she’s careful to always check in with the volunteers to make sure she’s not missing any butt scratches.

We think that Blair might do well with an equal-sized playmate who has the same enthusiasm for playing that she does. She’s also quite content to be your right-hand woman!

View photos of adoptable pets and schedule an adoption appointment at pasadenahumane.org. Adoptions are by appointment only, and new adoption appointments are available every Sunday and Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. Pets may not be available for adoption and cannot be held for potential adopters by phone calls or email.
